Dear Community Members:
Happy New Year! This year is off to a great start with multiple activities during January! Some of our new programs include Monday after-school adaptive sports with CVUSD, Tuesday evening ice skating lessons with the Berger Foundation Iceplex, join Mike for this fun-filled activity, Wednesday morning multi-sport activities in Palm Desert, the 2024 edition of our school-based program Sports for everyBODY, including a special evening program for parents and other family members on January 17 at Westside Elementary School, and golf lessons, starting this Saturday afternoon, January 13, at Desert Willow. This Thursday we are also starting a meditation/yoga hybrid class with the Riverside Braille Institute and all are welcome to participate. Please register and help us to spread the word about our upcoming January 27, Special Olympics Day in the Coachella Valley. You can find registration links for these and all of our other activities below!
We are constantly striving to add more in order to provide choices for athletes and their family members. Please stay-tuned for announcements about exciting activities for you and your family members and friends as we continue to spread our activities throughout the Coachella Valley, Riverside County and other southern California communities!

During the past two weeks, we took time to celebrate holidays but were also very busy implementing a variety of programs!
Our Desert ARC programs continue to flourish as we work with current and new athletes. We're Getting Everyone Moving!
We never stop offering tennis and pickleball through our two sessions- one from 12:30-1:30 and the other from 1:30-2:30. You can sign up for one or both, please see below.
During the Winter school break we ran a youth adaptive sports camp in Riverside, which turned out to be two weeks of an inclusive camp for our younger athletes. It was a lot of fun being with old and new friends! Besides offering a variety of sports we also made gingerbread houses, pancakes, pizza and many arts and crafts projects, during this past week, thanks to Diane Rogers! We love partnering and spreading the joy of adaptive sports in a number of municipalities!
Yesterday we continued our hiking program, this time, on the Randle Henderson Trail. Thanks to Thomas and also Susan Forgrave for continuing to take wonderful photos and to Friends of the Desert Mountain volunteers for leading our hikes!
We are growing our Inland Regional Center program and continue to offer 1:1 and small group coaching and workouts. If you'd like to take part please have SoCal Adaptive Sports assigned by your Regional Center Community Services Coordinator (CSC). Our Vendor number is PJ5601. We are open to many different modalities for bringing adaptive sports and physical, social, and emotional health to everyBODY!
As the local coordinator for Special Olympics, we really want to build this program. You can sign up now to be a Special Olympics athlete or volunteer in the Coachella Valley! Please consider joining in on the fun! Please sign up for our Special Olympics Day on January 27 and join us for golf, see below, which is our newest Special Olympics sport.

Beginning on February 21, 2024. This initiative is designed to provide a platform for self-advocates to share their inspiring stories across various domains, including healthcare, education, employment, and more.
Each Zoom session will focus on diverse topics to enhance your skills in self-presentation, encompassing aspects such as effective public speaking and empowerment within your community.
To ensure an inclusive experience, American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided during all sessions. Additionally, all materials utilized will be made accessible to accommodate diverse needs.
