A Milestone Year: 25 Years of Reading Together! 🎉
Dear Friends,
March is bringing big milestones for South Sound Reading Foundation as we step into our 25th Anniversary year. For twenty-five years, this community has helped us put books into children’s hands—and this spring, we celebrate how far we’ve come and where we’re headed next.
Our anniversary celebration officially kicks off at Readers Are Leaders, our annual Benefit Breakfast on April 15. Registration is now open, and this year’s gathering will be especially meaningful as we honor 25 years of impact together.
We’re also on the brink of an extraordinary moment: sharing our One Millionth Book with a child! One million books. One million opportunities to spark a love of reading. We will be celebrating the NIght of the Millionth Book at the Hands On Children's Museum on April 3rd.
As we mark this milestone year, we’re reflecting on the children reached, the partnerships built, and the community that made it all possible—while looking ahead to the next chapter of growth. We’re so grateful to have you alongside us for what’s to come!
Readers Are Leaders is almost here—and this year, it’s extra special. 💛
Join us on April 15 as we kick off the South Sound Reading Foundation’s 25th Anniversary year at our annual benefit breakfast. Readers Are Leaders brings together community leaders, educators, advocates, partners, and friends who believe in the power of books to change lives—and this year, we’ll be celebrating 25 years of impact made possible by this incredible community.
The morning will be filled with stories of impact, exciting announcements about what’s ahead, and meaningful moments that remind us why early literacy matters so much. Our MC this year will be Drew Mikkelsen of KING5. If you’ve ever supported SSRF, volunteered with us, or simply believe every child deserves access to books, this event is for you.
✨ Registration is now open—we hope you’ll join us as we celebrate the past and launch the next chapter together.
If so, nominate them for a Literacy Champion Award. The South Sound Reading Foundation is requesting nominations for the Shirlee Lehnis Literacy Champion Award for Youth. These awards will go to the individual or group of children or youth (under 18) who has done something exceptional to promote literacy.
Awards will be presented at the Foundation’s Readers are Leaders Benefit Breakfast on Thursday April 15th. Winners will be encouraged to attend.
Submit a paragraph detailing the nominees’ activities and why you feel they should receive the award by Saturday March 21st to read2me@ntps.org.
