Dear Friends,
Summer in San Diego means a slew of natural wonders. Least Terns, an endangered subspecies, migrate to Mission Bay, the Santa Margarita River Mouth, and other select spots from April through September. In July, the world's largest gathering of leopard sharks will appear off of the coast of La Jolla. August 12 - 13, we can view the Perseid Meteor Shower from places with low light pollution, such as Palomar Mountain and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.
At Solana Center, in April, we were featured as a ReFED Food Action Waste Network member. In May, I had the honor of being interviewed by the Institute for Local Self-Reliance on the economic incentives and disincentives that influence composting. At the national ReFED Summit held in St. Louis, I addressed the environmental and social implications of food waste recycling. Regionally, Solana Center is proud to announce our new collaboration with The Conrad, initiated last month by a unique event tying local actions to the natural environment – Nat Geo Live: Coral Kingdoms & Empires of Ice.
Solana Center is dedicated to ensuring a happy and habitable world for humans and all creatures. Please contribute to our goals: creating a better food system, protecting our watersheds and soil from contaminants, and building a sustainable and equitable region by donating or volunteering with us.
