2022 WAS OUR BIGGEST YEAR YET! What's next? In 2022 we grew by leaps and bounds, as the demand for perinatal mental health support showed no signs of slowing down. We made great strides in increasing parents' access to low or no barrier, culturally appropriate care - across all our programs and in our continued dedication to training and growing our state's perinatal mental health workforce. As we continue this work, guided by our community-led Theory of Change, we know we have strength in numbers on our side - through a vibrant community of people who care like you. All my best and take care, Allie Allie Lindsay Johnson, Executive Director Come volunteer with us! The Warm Line was started by parents who never wanted another parent to feel alone and not know what to do. We offer free phone, text, and email support where peer volunteers help parents make a wellness plan, find resources, share stories, and just listen. Volunteer Training Date: Saturday, March 18, 2023, 9:00am-5:00pm Volunteer Training Location: Zoom Warm Line volunteering is an unforgettable experience that is healing for both the caller and listener. After you are trained you can begin connecting with callers and offering support through their perinatal period journey. "I want to be the support that I once needed." -Warm Line volunteer Meet our new staff As we continue to expand, we have two fresh faces on board to serve more clients. Karina will help with outreach and partnerships as we spread into more counties across Washington, and Escarleth will step in to provide therapy for low or no-income people suffering from PMADs. We asked them about their excitement and experience, passion for bilingual access in mental health, and wishes for the future. Karina Saunders, M.Ed. Karina: I'm so excited to get to know and support the 11 Task Force communities across the state! In my first few months at PS-WA, I've loved learning how each community defines itself, and how they are coming together as a larger community to address the specific needs, barriers, and gaps in the perinatal mental health world. Escarleth: I love that PS-WA is constantly working toward supporting people in the perinatal phase through a variety of programs. As a therapist I was immediately sold when I saw that I could be part of a team serving this population regardless of their insurance coverage.
