LTHP Advocates for Most Endangered Places

This week, LTHP appeared before the House Appropriations Committee at the invitation of Rep. Mary DuBussion (Dist. 90), to request funding to restore Camp Salmen Lodge and construct a period-appropriate dock along Bayou Liberty, in St. Tammany Parish.  The site is important in many areas, including architecture, archaeology, culture and wildlife biology.  The 75/25 funding would support St. Tammany Parish and Friends of Camp Salmen Nature Preserve to restore and use the ca. 1790 Creole structure, which was used as a home, trading post and Boy Scout camp.

You can get involved by reaching out to your State Representative and requesting their support of appropriations for Camp Salmen Lodge under HB 1.  Camp Salmen Lodge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006 and to the Louisiana's Most Endangered Places List in 2020.
