Living Classrooms Launches 40th Season this April

📸Living Classrooms Foundation

Living Classrooms is about to launch our 40th season of maritime education aboard our three historic Chesapeake Bay vessels, the pungy schooner Lady Maryland, skipjack Sigsbee, and buyboat Mildred Belle. Our season starts on April 4th with all boats operating out of Baltimore.

We are pleased to announce that Captain Laura (LP) Page will take command of Lady Maryland this season and Jason Diller will take command of Sigsbee. Captain LP will be starting her 9th season with Living Classrooms and has been running Sigsbee since 2019. She started with Living Classrooms as the cook and deckhand/educator on Lady Maryland in 2015. Captain Diller is starting his third season with Living Classrooms and is transitioning to Sigsbee after running Mildred Belle for the past two years. We are also pleased to welcome Captain Rob Charde to the helm of Mildred Belle. Rob comes to the Maritime Education Department after recent stints aboard Call of the Sea, Alvei, and Shenandoah.

Lady Maryland is currently in drydock for annual maintenance and inspection. The crew is scraping and painting the bottom and topsides and checking the below water seams. We are also getting the starboard propeller shaft aligned, changing zincs, and generally getting the vessel ready for the sailing season.
