Happy New Year from WGEP! 🎊

As we step into 2026, we’re deeply grateful for the community that makes this work possible. From transformative Alternative Rite of Passage ceremonies to the generosity of our Holiday Campaign, 2025 closed with powerful moments of impact. In this issue, you’ll hear a thank you message from Consolata, one of our WGEP scholars, and get a first look at Ndajee 2026—our biggest night of the year coming up this Spring.

1171 Girls Empowered Through ARP

twwp%20arp.jpg

Over 500 girls in Tharaka, Kenya, participated in ARP.

This past December, something extraordinary happened. 1,171 cases of FGM were prevented as girls took part in the Alternative Rite of Passage (ARP)—the largest ARP in WGEP’s history. With your support, these girls chose safety, dignity, and a future free from female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C).

In many Kenyan communities, FGM/C has long been tied to tradition and coming of age, but it often cuts short a girl’s education, health, and dreams. Through ARP, our partners Tharaka Women’s Welfare Programme (TWWP), HOPE for Girls Education Africa, and Enkishon Sidai Africa are helping communities reimagine what it means for girls to become women without harm or fear, with their futures intact.

During ARP, girls don’t just say no to FGM/C, they say yes to themselves. They build knowledge about their bodies, their rights, and their voices through lessons on reproductive health, communication, decision-making, and self-confidence. Because of you, more girls than ever are entering adulthood empowered, protected, and ready to lead.πŸ’œ

2025 Holiday Campaign

Our 2025 Holiday Campaign was our most successful yet. With a goal of $150,000, our community exceeded expectations, raising $179,658 to support girls’ education in Kenya and Senegal. This milestone was made even more meaningful by the Love One Another Foundation’s generous double match, which amplified the impact of every gift. To everyone who gave, shared, and believed in this mission: your support is creating real opportunities for girls to stay in school, pursue their dreams, and build brighter futures.
