Thirsting for God

Shriveled Souls

SHRIVELED.jpg

On the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, and the conclusion of our annual novena, we got rain! Not enough to end the drought; we pray for more. But we got a real rain after a seemingly endless series of 105 degree days.  The morning after, plants that had been shriveled and drooping for weeks, now stood straight, leaves unfurled, as if giving off a deep sigh of relief.
What a difference.

How many souls are suffering similar conditions?
In our world that seems increasingly hostile and desert-like,
many of God's children are suffering from a terrible thirst,
a lack of Faith and Love,
causing their souls to parch and shrivel.

Yet we all stand at the edge
of a vast freshwater Ocean of God's Love and Mercy.
It is there for everyone who discovers it.
Drinking from this Ocean restores the soul,
making it beautiful, whole, full of life.
Only God can love in such a way.
Only He can restore our souls,
so that they experience deep relief.

 We are God's co-workers.
He uses us to help our friends,
our co-workers, our family members and our spouses
to discover His Ocean in our hostile world.

A SATURDAY MORNING REFLECTION BY BR.MIKAEL

SEPT. 23 - 9:20 AM

OBEDIENCE ?

In these confusing times, how are we to understand the virtue of obedience? In this talk we will reflect on examples from Scripture, the Catechism, Aquinas and others in an effort to understand the Mystery of the Church, and how we are called to live obedience.

And up on Shepherds' Hill...

ELECTRIC%20PANEL.jpg
Electricians from Becka Electric are installing frame for the electric panel. Not so easy, because putting anything in the ground at the Mission means going through solid rock. At least we aren't building our house on sand....

Sr. Amapola thought she was giving up her future in architecture when she chose religious life. However, she has gained tremendous knowledge and firsthand experience by her involvement in every Mission building project. God has His own plans!

Aaaaahhh... Chillin' Poolside

SQUIRREL.jpg

It has been so hot and dry! Just how hot, you ask. Dave reported that when he was filling the wildlife pond with water, a squirrel came up next to him, regarded him for a moment, and then just began drinking from the pond.

A NETWORK OF TRUST

"This is what MDM is called to be: a growing communion of trust in His Mercy for our needy world." ~ Fr. John Mary

MDM started encouraging people to pray "Jesus, I trust in You"  ten times a day back in 2011. Recently we felt it was important to remind people to turn to Jesus with this simple, powerful prayer in a world that feels more and more out of control. We are suggesting 20 times, but some people find themselves repeating it hundreds of times. It reminds our troubled souls that GOD IS IN CONTROL.

Many of you have put your name on our growing list and have also left a prayer intention or testimony:

My husband Marcus and I went for the first time to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on August 20 at the Mission of Divine Mercy. We were speechless for a while after Mass. The reverence. The music. The communion rails. The veils. The Holy of Holies celebrated and worshiped as He should be. Thank you so very much for welcoming us so warmly. We just moved into the area and have found our spiritual home! ~Selma

Jesus I Trust In You, therefore I ask that you help Kristin Deleon on her journey to a bone marrow transplant soon. She is my niece and suffering with Leukemia. I pray for a miracle! Jesus, I pray that you help my son David. He is a new father and needs your guidance and wisdom. ~ Angie

We met Mother  Magdalene at an HEB by chance. My husband and I were drawn to her, she has a magnificent aura. ~ Lucy
