ReDiscover U Program

ReDiscoverU%20Logo.png
ReDiscover, formerly a program of the Council on Brain Injury (CoBI), transitioned to BIAPA in January.  We are are honored to be given the opportunity to continue this unique program. The coordinators from CoBI, Holly Auth and Cassi Werner, continue in that role.
ReDiscoverU Program assists individuals in learning new skills or rediscovering past interests through inclusive and diverse educational opportunities that enhance the health, well-being, and knowledge of attendees. These virtual classes are offered year-round on Monday nights and are taught by qualified staff or community members.
ReDiscover U is open to all. Information about upcoming classes can be found on the  ReDiscover U page on the BIAPA website.  We invite you to join any time.  All classes will be held via this Zoom link.

Administration of Community Living (ACL) Traumatic Brain Injury Partners Day

Invitation to the TBI Partner Community from ACL:

Please join the Administration for Community Living (ACL) in observance of Brain Injury Awareness Month. The ACL will be hosting a virtual Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Partners Day on February 28, 2023, 12:00 – 4:00 PM ET.

Each year, under what was previously called TBI Stakeholder Day, ACL  convenes interested parties to discuss important issues around TBI services, supports, and systems and to learn from other partners, brain injury survivors, family members, support networks, and state and federal representatives.

This year, we will have sessions on aging, employment, the intersectionality of TBI and other medical and social issues, and peer support.

While we are still working on finalizing the agenda for the 2023 ACL TBI Partners Day, our plans are to include state and federal representatives as well as brain injury survivors and family members in the sessions. Session participants will be given the opportunity to ask questions during each session. There will be no cost to register for the event.

The webinar will include ASL interpretation, live English captions, and live Spanish interpretation. If you require additional accommodations to participate or if you have any questions about the event, please do not hesitate to contact us at tbitarc@hsri.org.

Did you know that about half of the people who suspect they have a concussion don't get it checked out?  Many concussions remain untreated.

For this reason and more, the Brain Injury Association of America launched the Concussion Awareness Now coalition

A full list of all of Pennsylvania's Brain Injury Support Groups, along with contact information for each, is on the BIAPA website's Support Group Listing Page. We are in the process of updating the information, and while we have done so for most groups, there are still some that we're trying to reach. If you are aware of groups that are meeting either virtually or in-person and are not on our listing, or if you have any updated details about a group on the list, please contact Melanie Morrison morrison@biapa.org so we can let others know about them
