Bring Holiday Joy to Families in Need
Sign-up is now open to sponsor families through our Spirit of Giving holiday gift program for kids. This annual program connects Sun Prairie families in need with community members eager to spread holiday cheer. This year, we’re supporting over 600 families with nearly 1,700 children—and your generosity can make their holidays brighter!
You can sponsor a family on your own or team up with friends, neighbors, colleagues, or groups to help make a difference. Sponsors can expect to spend around $50 per child from a wish list provided. Purchased and unwrapped gifts are due on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Heartland Church (new location this year).

Join your community in making a difference! The Sun Prairie Food Pantry is in urgent need of volunteers to help with a variety of roles and shifts. The pantry is serving more people than ever before—an average of 80 families per day! While we have a robust community of dedicated volunteers, we need more help to meet this record need. The impact of Sunshine Place in the community is only possible through the kindness of the individuals and businesses who donate and volunteer to support our programs. Below are just a few recent highlights of this support:
Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for their donation of $1,800 worth of winter coats! These coats are being distributed through our C.A.R.D.S. Closet program to ensure that kids in our community have warm winter gear this season. We are honored to be the recipient of this generous donation and are grateful for all the Knights of Columbus do to support our mission.
We are deeply touched by the love and generosity shown in memory of Connie Disrud, a beloved longtime volunteer at our Food Pantry who recently passed. Her daughters honored her dedication with a memorial contribution which helped raise over $7,000. A portion of these funds has been used to create “Connie’s Shelf,” a lasting tribute that will forever be a part of our pantry, just like Connie herself.
We are so grateful for the groups that provided volunteers and food to serve at Sunshine Supper. Recent sponsor groups included St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Heartland Church, Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, Sun Prairie Lions Club, Sun Prairie Utilities, and Bethlehem Lutheran. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to making this free weekly community meal possible.
A record number of families and individuals are turning to us for help with food, housing, and other essential needs. Your support ensures our neighbors can find hope and help at Sunshine Place when they need it most. Thank you!
