Recycled Content Benches Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful organized the distribution of garden benches made from recycled plastic bags to communities within The GIANT Company’s service area through GIANT’S Bags to Benches initiative. Benches were offered to Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful participants in Doylestown, Bucks County; Chester County and Philadelphia near the Schuylkill River. The 21 benches will be installed in 21 separate, shared public spaces as part of each recipient’s neighborhood restorations and community enhancements. A big thank you to The GIANT Company.
Pick Up Pennsylvania Video Contest Winner& Fall Cleanup Program Senior Girl Scout Troop 21031 of Warrington Pennsylvania earned the most Facebook likes to win first place. The Scouts received a $200 cash prize for their video of a cleanup of Paul Valley Road and Valley Square Drive in Bucks County. Twenty-five scouts removed 42 bags of trash from the two locations. Registration for Pick Up Pennsylvania, supporting the International Coastal Cleanup, will begin in August. Free cleanup supplies are available as supplies last.
Community Pride Award - The Honorable Craig Staats, representing the 145th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, nominated Tim Arnold for the Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Community Pride Award. Arnold was recognized at a Richland Township meeting for his commitment to coordinate the annual "Richland Township Road Cleanup Day" in partnership with the Richland Township Water Authority. The initiative is responsible for removing close to a ton of trash from local roadsides each year. Public officials interested in nominating a constituent, click here.
