UUMFE @ GA Connect with UUMFE at GA!

Have you registered yet for the UUA General Assembly (GA) happening June 14-21? We have created a workshop titled “Climate Justice Movement Chaplaincy Liturgies for this Moment.” The workshop will be pre-recorded to view on demand as well as offered via livestream during GA.

Climate Justice Movement Chaplaincy provides spiritual and emotional support for activists, advocates, or anyone impacted by climate disruption. In this workshop, UU Ministry for Earth's team of movement chaplains presents a simple liturgical framework that can be reproduced to support those who are experiencing climate despair or the aftermath of natural disasters. Tune into our live workshop on Friday, 6/19 (9 AM PT / 10 AM MT / 11 AM CT / 12 PM ET) through the Whova platform. See you there!

If you are a delegate at GA this year, we ask that you consider voting in favor of this year’s Action of Immediate Witness (AIW) called “Defend Against the Assault on Environmental Protections: Public Lands Rules and the Endangerment Finding.” UU Ministry for Earth is a sponsor of this AIW, and we would be partners in the solution if the AIW is adopted by this year’s delegates.

A Fond Farewell from Chelsea McCoy

“I cannot thank you enough for welcoming me into your community with open arms, minds, and hearts. My time spent as your Climate Justice Movement Chaplain Intern proved to be one of the sweetest, most rewarding, and enlightening experiences of my life and I do not take that for granted. Alas, all good things must come to an end, and my last official day as your chaplain intern will be on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026.” Read all of Chelsea’s farewell letter on the UUMFE blog

No One is Coming. That’s a Blessing.
blog post by Audrey McCann

“No one is coming to save us. And that is the good news. Because it means we are not waiting. It means we are already saving each other.”

UUMFE’s Communications Coordinator, Audrey McCann, wrote about her experiences in Minneapolis during Operation Metro Surge and the interdependent nature of justice work, living beings, and the earth. Click here to read the full article on the UUMFE blog.

HonoringBrockLeach.png

Honoring the Rev. Dr. Brock Leach

UU Ministry for Earth grieves the loss of the Rev. Dr. Brock Hutchison Leach, a wise mentor who generously helped us shape our strategic planning with clarity and heart. Brock’s entire life, from corporate leadership to Unitarian Universalist ministry, was a testament to reinvention, service, and justice, and he was a profound blessing to our faith. We give thanks for his calm presence, his love for innovative religious community, and the many ways he strengthened our mission. Though he died peacefully at home on May 25 after a courageous struggle with glioblastoma, his memory will remain a blessing, guiding our work for the earth and its people. You can read more about Brock in his obituary. If you were also connected with Brock, you can click here to leave your own comment on his memory board.

Wendland-Cook Program in Religion and Justice at Vanderbilt University

Are you a faith leader, clergy member, or organizer who is actively engaged in climate justice work in the Appalachia region? If so, researchers at Vanderbilt University want to hear from you. The Wendland-Cook Program in Religion and Justice at Vanderbilt University is engaging in research to develop a future track of the Solidarity Circles focus on climate justice.

Solidarity Circles is a leadership training program for faith leaders, clergy, and organizers interested in the solidarity economy and its connection to faith communities. This new cohort of solidarity circles will bring together leaders in climate justice to build community and explore how congregations can build power together to create cooperative solutions to the climate crisis.

If you're doing the work of creation justice in your community and want to contribute to research that could shape how faith communities respond to the climate crisis, we encourage you to sign up.

The Canterbury Earth Justice Lectionary

United Church of Christ Clergy Authors Publish Groundbreaking The Canterbury Earth Justice Lectionary

The United Church of Christ celebrates the publication of The Canterbury Earth Justice Lectionary (Canterbury Press, March 31, 2026), authored by two United Church of Christ clergy, Rev. Dr. Robert E. Shore-Goss and Rev. Dr. Sarah J. Melcher. This timely new volume offers congregations a transformative resource for integrating ecological justice into the heart of Christian worship and preaching. Most lectionaries preach salvation without creation. Climate crisis exposes the limits of anthropocentric preaching. It restores the original lectionary integration and connection with Earth seasons of the year.

The lectionary is available for purchase through Bookshop.org (click here) and other major booksellers.
