BIAPA Welcomes Lancaster Rehabilitation Hospital As a Brain Injury Ambassador Outreach Partner!
BIAPA is pleased to welcome Lancaster Rehab Hospital as an Ambassador Outreach partner!
This program offers the services of trained volunteer ambassadors to persons with brain injury and their families in this facility. Our Ambassador volunteers, who all have lived experience with brain injury, offer an important personalized connection for families who have loved ones receiving inpatient brain injury rehabilitation. Ambassadors make this connection through a one-time phone conversation during which they deliver the message of hope and help, and provide an overview of some resources that might be useful in the future. A packet of educational information and resource materials are sent to the families after the call. We are hoping to work with all inpatient rehabilitation facilities across the Commonwealth, and we welcome inquiries about Brain Injury Ambassador Outreach. For more information, contact BIAPA Programs Coordinator Meghan Walsh-Farrell at walsh-farrell@biapa.org

Pennsylvania’s Department of Health (DOH) receives federal traumatic brain injury grant funds from the Administration for Community Living to build a system of services and supports for individuals with a TBI.
Individuals with a TBI are invited to participate in a survey designed to gather valuable insights into the service needs, gaps, and challenges experienced by this community. Results of this survey will help DOH and the Brain Injury Advisory Board (Board) understand:
• The kinds of services and supports that Pennsylvanians with a TBI need to continue living successfully in their homes and communities.
• The challenges to getting needed services and supports for TBI.
As the fall sport season gets underway, it is the perfect time to review policies and procedures regarding sport-related concussions. In partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society (PATS) has developed an infographic to help bring awareness to the dangers of participating in sport activities while experiencing concussion signs and symptoms.
You can find more information about concussions through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CLICK HERE) and the Pennsylvania Department of Health (CLICK HERE) websites.
