Litter Hawk Youth Award Program Now Open for K-6 Students!
Calling all teachers, group leaders, parents and guardians! The Litter Hawk Youth Award is back with an exciting new theme: Join the Greatest American Cleanup! Show us how you can keep your community litter-free for America’s 250th birthday.
This initiative supports the Greatest American Cleanup, Keep America Beautiful’s national three-year campaign to motivate, educate, and celebrate communities as we clean up and green up ahead of the Country’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.
The Litter Hawk Youth Award program, funded by the PA Department of Environmental Protection, invites kids in grades K through 6 to creatively demonstrate how litter and trash affects our environment through art, words and video.

Winners Announcement: April 2025
Awards Ceremony: April 3, 2025, at the PA State Capitol Building
Winning entries will be displayed at the 2025 Litter Hawk Youth Exhibit at the PA State Capitol Building. All winners, along with their families, guardians, and teachers, are welcome to attend the awards ceremony on April 3. Special guests will include representatives from the PA Department of Environmental Protection and America250PA.

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful partners with Columbia Gas - Nisource Charitable Foundation
With funding from Columbia Gas - NiSource Charitable Foundation, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Offered Young Ambassadors the opportunity to participate in a job shadowing experience with Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania employees to learn day-to-day responsibilities of an Environmental Coordinator. Students visited active work sites to see how and why environmental permitting, specific procedures and compliance measures are needed before excavation and stream crossing.
Mini grants were also provided to county affiliates for community greening and beautification. Grants totaling $7,840 supported four community projects in Allegheny, Elk, Fayette and Venango counties.
