November 2025 Newsletter
Dear Members and Friends,
Welcome to Fall. I like this time of year because the summer heat has worn off, the nights are cool, and it’s time to get cozy. Just don’t get too cozy since we have a lot of events coming up, which I hope you will join.
3GAZ Kristallnacht Shabbat Dinner – 11/7
Echoes from the Night of Broken Glass - 11/9
Fractured Childhoods – 11/10
Café Europa – 11/16
Hanna Miley Documentary Film Premiere - 11/18
There are two events centered on Kristallnacht, the night of broken glass, which took place on November 9-10, 1938. We remember that night of terror when the Jews throughout Germany and Austria feared for their lives and their property, and synagogues were burned. It was a nationwide pogrom.
For additional information and to register for any of these offerings, please go to our website, phxha.com, in the events section.

Speakers Bureau
3G Sandor Lubisch recently spoke to the Path Collective, a group of homeschooling families in the Gilbert area. He tailored his presentation for children in grades 4–7, including a segment on Jewish culture and a brief reading from his book Yitzhak’s Escape – The Jewish Flight to Uzbekistan, now recommended by the Arizona Department of Education for grades 7–12. About 50 parents and children attended the event.
PHA Board Member Ettie Zilber will be one of the featured authors at an upcoming event highlighting writers whose works focus on the Holocaust and World War II. She will be joined by two other authors sharing their insights and stories from this significant period in history.
Kristallnacht survivors and descendants of survivors will be sharing how their families experienced and survived the Night of Broken Glass in November 1938.
In partnership with Scottsdale Community College's Anthropology Department and Arizona State University Jewish Studies, PHA invites you to our speaker series event, "Fractured Childhoods: A conversation with Holocaust Survivor Hana Miley and Indian Boarding School Survivor Dr. Ramona Klein."
