Dear Pam:
Is it me, or is time passing more quickly each year?
I would like to lead with a thank you for your patience. As you know, we have had several days of internet issues in the Camp Hill office including today (day 3). We are told that Comcast is making upgrades to the lines. Hopefully we will be back up and running without interruptions soon!

TRAINING
We are working on chainsaw trainings for this fall. We had hoped to have them in the spring, but the trainer was unavailable. If you are interested or have members interested, let me know. I am working on siting the locations.
We also have an opportunity for a few people to attend a two day Leave No Trace Training at Juniata College field station. There would be a small fee to participate, but PPFF would cover the bulk in exchange for programs on LNT. If you are interested in this more in-depth, higher level training, let me know. You can learn more about it here (ignore the dates, we are setting up a private one): Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course - Juniata College - Leave No Trace (lnt.org)
KNOW
Please join us in saying a big "welcome to the family" to Kathryn Giblin, our new Volunteer Coordinator. Kathryn will be getting to know you and your chapters very well in the coming weeks and months once she settles in.
KNOW TOO
You may have received an email from Bernadette regarding making sure that checks are made to the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation with the chapter name in the memo. Allow me a moment to explain.
Security systems are becoming more sensitive to name discrepancies between the signer and the recipient. To avoid a check being rejected when we make a deposit, ensure that your marketing materials, your website, your membership brochures, etc. indicate that checks need to be made payable to “Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation” with the chapter name in the memo. We know that an occasional check will slip through made out to a chapter. Taking the step to guide people in how to write the check will reduce the number of checks not following protocol, thereby reducing the potential for rejection by a banking system.
KNOW THREE
As you know, the annual PA Healthy Lands Week stewardship event is set to take place once again this Fall (September 28 to October 6). The Friends of Pine Grove Furnace and Ridley Creek's National Public Lands Day events are included on the calendar and we would love to have ANY event you are hosting during this time frame be included as well.
If you want to know more about what this is all about and how your group can participate, join me and PA Healthy Lands Week consultant Amy Hill for a live event on August 13th at 1:00. It will stream live on our Facebook page and YouTube channel.
SHARE
PPFF is co-hosting a one-day symposium this fall with Keystone Trails Association directed to (especially) our trail building and maintenance volunteers. A one question survey will elicit your ideas for what you'd like to see as part of the symposium. Weigh in please - before August 16th.
