How a teenage entrepreneur supported 2 DC dance classrooms
Earlier this month, we had the joy of connecting a young entrepreneur to DC classrooms with her dance costume give-back initiative. Isabella Perrone, age 14, is the Founder of En Pointe Bels - an organization that collects and redistributes new and gently used dance costumes, accessories, shoes, and more. She reached out to us looking for ways to support DC dance classes. We were able to connect her with two classrooms to help support their practice and performances!
We visited teachers Ms. Joyner and Ms. Gower at Simon Elementary School and Hendley Elementary School. Together, with Isabella’s supportive family, we hand-delivered bags full of tap shoes, sparkling costumes, and more. We even got to watch a dance class warm-up and Isabella, a dancer herself, joined in.
The students were excited to have a guest and to have new costumes, many with tags still attached, to use for future performances. Teachers often have to find their own resources or think creatively to supply students with materials like these. A new sparkly outfit and new tap shoes aren’t just fun accessories - they help students envision themselves as artists, creators, and professional dancers. Isabella shared her gratitude for these teachers and wants to come back with more to give! Our creative community continues to grow and support young artists and performers. Thank you, Isabella!
