Welcome to the Ujima Staff WIRE! The Staff WIRE is an extension of our monthly #CO-DIRECT meeting, which happens on the first Wednesday of each month, meant to update and provide a consistent window of opportunity for Ujima members to see and participate in key activities led by staff within the Ujima Ecosystem. The Ujima Staff WIRE is a monthly publication.

Ujima Fund Nears Another Milestone!

 

The Ujima Fund set a goal of raising $5 million by 2021, comprised of $4.5 million of multi-tiered investment capital and $500,000 of grant capital. Ujima is proud to announce that we are just $5,000 away from our $4.5 million investment capital goal.

In response to this milestone, we have temporarily disabled investments. Ujima members and supporters can still contribute to the Ujima Fund by donating to the Imani pool here.  

Stay tuned for more details on a special campaign for the remaining $5,000, as well as our next Investor Update due in September 2021. 

Personalized Investment Plan

Voting members, have you created your Personalized Investment Plan yet? It's an opportunity for you to name BIPOC businesses you love in your neighborhoods and across Boston. Our goal is that every Voting Member creates a Personalized investment Plan, which will feed our Neighborhood and Citywide Investment Plans in the future.

Last week, we hosted Michael Partis and Katherine Mella from BCDI, who spoke about their approach to long-term participatory planning. Check out the link to view the full video and notes here.

 

Next month, Ujima's staff will engage in a practice of rest, revision, and reflection by slowing down to prioritize internal and long-term planning. As such, there will be no #UjimaWednesdays or member team meetings next month. We'll see everyone again in September!
