Creating Lasting Change with Humanist Canada

Put your money where your values are and DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT!

Creating lasting change requires dedication, vision, courage—and, crucially, financial support. That’s why we’re reaching out to you. Your financial support will help Humanist Canada expand its influence, connect with more communities, and promote Humanist values as the cornerstone of a compassionate, progressive, forward-thinking society.

Thanks to a generous pledge from a circle of leadership donors, every dollar you give will be matched up to $5,000. Your gift of $25 becomes $50, $50 becomes $100, and a contribution of $100 becomes $200!

Humanist Canada relies on supporters like you.

Please donate today and help us create a brighter future based on shared Humanist values.

Did you know that most so-called "crisis pregnancy centres" in Canada are registered charities?

Important information highlighted for us by our affiliate the British Columbia Humanist Association:

These groups are typically fronts for Christian anti-choice churches and attempt to get pregnant people in the door to dissuade them from accessing abortion or other reproductive healthcare services. Some even provide (abstinence-only) sex ed classes.

Now, the federal government is looking to require those groups to disclose if they don't provide abortion or contraceptives on any advertising, or risk losing their charitable status.

If this bill becomes law, it will be a promising step toward greater transparency from these groups.

This proposed legislation has been endorsed by the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada.

LAST CALL!  Registration closes at the end of today.

Join us on Saturday, November 16, 2024, beginning at 8:30AM,  for our Humanism in Action conference, a historical gathering of passionate secular activists from across southern Ontario. This event is an inspirational experience, where ideas, dreams, hopes, and practical strategies come together to bolster advocacy efforts. Unlike other secular conferences in Canada, this milestone event offers a distinctly Canadian perspective on Humanist values and their impact on shaping a better future for us all.

This episode is the first of a series from Humanist Canada’s own Steve Ghikadis.

This series, brought to us by the Voice of Humanist Canada, focuses on prominent voices in the Canadian secular humanist community.

Today we feature Gretta Vosper. Gretta is an author, activist and ordained minister of the United Church of Canada, a member of Humanist Canada and a self-professed atheist. Her beliefs or lack thereof, caused controversy both within and outside of the United Church. In 2016, following a certain incident, her public statement that the belief in a supernatural God sometimes promoted hatred, led the United Church of Canada to institute an official review of her suitability as a minister. In 2018, Gretta was allowed to keep her position, but under sanctions by the United Church. Gretta is a much loved member of Humanist Canada.
