Leading up to the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health in September, the Biden-Harris administration asked for input on strategies to end hunger and address the diet-related chronic illnesses that burden millions of Americans. The only other conference of its kind was held in 1969, making this a significant opportunity for organizations and communities to raise awareness of the role of plant-based nutrition in overcoming chronic disease and reducing health disparities. PPMNY volunteers, advisors, and staff convened in mid-July to collect ideas and recommendations for the following four (out of five) pillars outlined by the conference committee:

🌱

Improving healthy food access and affordability

🌱

Integrating nutrition and healthcare

🌱

Helping consumers make healthy food choices and protecting consumers from unhealthy food

🌱

Enhancing nutrition and food security research

Out of this listening session, PPMNY proposed a host of creative and practical ideas! Read our submission to the White House conference.
