NAWCAD- NAVAIR- SOMD TECH BRIDGE
NAWCAD and UX-24 invite you to participate in Thunderdome 2026, an event focused on low-cost interceptor solutions for Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS). August 17–21, 2026 (Distinguished Visitor Demo: August 20)
Location: Naval Air Warfare Center Webster Outlying Field (NAWC WOLF), St. Inigoes, MD.
Target System Requirements:
- Group 1 UAS (under 18 lbs)
- Airspeed ≥ 85 knots
- Low cost (under $25,000 at full production)
- NDAA compliant
The event will feature scripted flight tests against Group 1-3 adversarial UAS targets (fixed-wing, VTOL, multirotor) with a focus on acquisition-ready, fieldable solutions.

Space Warfighting Environment (SWE) 2040
This is the U,S, Space Command’s recently published futures document focused on the 2040 timeline. It serves as the "North Star" to guide long-range planning, strategy, and campaign design and is intended to be shared broadly with our academic, governmental, industry, and allied partners.
It uniquely centers on the warfighter’s experience and directly addresses some of the Commander's critical priorities:
· Addressing nuclear threats in space
· Integrating EPIC FURY lessons-learned
· Transitioning to a distributed and resilient space infrastructure
· Advancing maneuver warfare

NEWS
On Wednesday, June 24, the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD), in collaboration with Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), celebrated the ribbon-cutting of its new 21,000-square-foot Advanced Energetic Research Laboratory Complex in Indian Head. This milestone marks another major investment in the Western Charles County Technology Corridor, strengthening the county's role in national defense while supporting innovation, research, and economic growth in Charles County.

August 17th-24th,2026 -Training Class: Save Time and Money on MIL-DTL-901E Equipment Shock Qualification with 901 Engineering & Training in California MD, Location: TBD – Kurt Hartsough was the Navy’s SME on surface ship equipment shock qualification for 25 years. 901E&T, is located in Lusby MD. He provides training and consulting for Navy programs requiring equipment shock qualification. The class is broken into multiple levels to assist program managers in understanding the Navy’s OPNAVINST 9072.2B acquisition requirements, test engineers to understand the complexities and inconsistencies in MIL-DTL-901E and design engineers to further understand the requirements for component testing, isolator design and design guidelines.
