Spotlight:

Project Transformation Indiana

Last week we shared about  Mental Health America of Hendricks County, one of the organizations featured at Danville UMC's Missions Fair a few weeks ago. This week's spotlight is on Project Transformation Indiana (PT Indiana), an Indiana organization based upon a national model founded in 1998 in Dallas Texas. As Executive Director Costeena Weathersby stated during services at Danville UMC, PT Indiana's programming is focused on "Three C's".

Children are represented by the first C, for programming geared toward supporting the academic, physical, social-emotional, and spiritual development of children living in low-income neighborhoods. College-age young adults are represented by the second C, where PT Indiana focuses on how to provide meaningful ways for young adults to explore their vocation and develop as young leaders for the church and for the world. The final C represents Churches, where the focus is on engagement with churches across communities to help revitalize churches in under-resourced neighborhoods.

PT Indiana is in the midst of an exciting period of learning, as they are in a season of resetting and renewal. Nine individuals recently joined their board of directors, and thanks to a grant from the Lilly Foundation, PT Indiana is working with local consultants  to conduct a thorough evaluation of the organization and develop a strategy for fundraising and growth. PT Indiana is gearing up to deliver the best programming that allows leaders to emerge, relationships to grow and communities to be transformed.

PT Indiana has a fun event coming up next week, Book Swap Social at District Tap at 3720 E 82nd Street in Indianapolis. Folks are invited to drop by on Tuesday, November 15 to enjoy appetizers, exchange a read book for a new-to-you book, write encouraging notes for kids in their programs and learn more about the organization. Tickets for this event are $12 in advance and $15 at the door and can be purchased here.

Current plans for 2023 include summer reading programs to be hosted by North UMC and Cumberland UMC. Metro Ministries is so excited for what lies ahead for Project Transformation Indiana!

The Party Is Almost Here!!!

Invitation%20with%20black%20border.PNG

There's still time to register for Building Bridges in God's Light: Loving God & Neighbor! Don't miss Metro's 99th Anniversary Celebration!

The festivities will begin at 3:30 pm with food and fellowship, along with music from Simply United. Then around 4:15, we will have opening prayer and remarks followed by words from some of our 2022 grant recipients. We are also planning opportunities to join in song. After a break for sweet treats, Rev. Dr. Aleze Fulbright will deliver the keynote message.

We encourage and welcome honor and memorial gifts to Metro Ministries, and all those recognized will be named during the program. We will wrap up the program by announcing the Missioner of the Year awards - from your votes - and will then close with prayer and song.

Contact Tina McAninch with any questions about the event at 317-452-4786 or metrodirector1923@gmail.com.

Individual tickets are $40/person. We are also seeking event sponsors at $750, $500 and $250 levels. All sponsorships include up to 8 seats for the event. Sponsors will be recognized during the event.

We look forward to celebrating with you!
