Sunday, Nov.19 For Mass and Reception As we give thanks to God and our friends For MDM's 22nd Anniversary
Getting Them Out of There
We began this month of November with the Solemnity of All Saints and the remembrance of All Souls. MDM has always had a great devotion to the Holy Souls, a devotion reflected in our Shrine to the Holy Souls outside St. Joseph's Chapel.
The Church teaches that souls in Purgatory cannot pray for themselves; they are dependent on our prayers for them. At the Mission we pray for them throughout the year, but most especially during the month of November.
During November we will use these Meditations to draw attention to the needs of the souls in Purgatory, also known as the Church Penitent. St. Faustina had many encounters with the Holy Souls, who appeared to her and implored her for prayers to hasten their release.
Maria Simma, an Austrian woman with a strong spiritual mandate to pray for the Holy Souls, was asked what it is that Poor Souls need the most? She replied:
"Holy Mass. Most often Masses to be attended and celebrated, but then also praying the Rosary, praying the Way of the Cross and other prayers.
"…[But the Mass is most beneficial] because at each Mass it is the renewal of Jesus’ sufferings and death on the cross. In each Mass He again prays for us and with us, and offers Himself to the Father for us. Padre Pio, who often suffered Christ’s Passion during the Mass, said that the world could exist easier without the sun than without Holy Mass. ... In going to Mass we join Jesus in saving the world from destruction, and in going to Jesus we save ourselves. The Mass is the greatest of all prayers, the greatest of all events in the world, and yet so very mysterious and so small and humble. In bringing the Poor Souls to Mass we assist them in countless ways that we will only really comprehend in Heaven when we are all together and round Jesus ." (excerpt from"Get Us Out of Here!" Help Us Get to Know You Better Add Your Photo to Your Profile!
You are now able to create your own Personal Information Profile (PIP) from our website. [Just go to LOGIN] Your PIP allows you to manage your communication preferences and monitor your financial contributions to MDM. But you can also add your photo, or your family photo; this is something we really encourage you to do! This allows us to put faces and names together, which is very helpful since we are always meeting new people. It is also a way for us to see the faces of friends who never get to visit.

"This is what MDM is called to be: a growing communion of trust in His Mercy for our needy world." ~ Fr. John Mary
MDM started encouraging people to pray "Jesus, I trust in You" ten times a day back in 2011. Recently we felt it was important to remind people to turn to Jesus with this simple, powerful prayer in a world that feels more and more out of control. We are suggesting 20 times, but some people find themselves repeating it hundreds of times. It reminds our troubled souls that GOD IS IN CONTROL.
Many of you have put your name on our growing list and have also left a prayer intention or testimony:
Dear Lord, we ask You, Who always hears us, for Bryan Guerrero's health. He is very young and suffers from cancer. May Your will be done.~Teresa

I am trying very hard to be a better Christian but seem to be slipping in the last month and losing hope. I feel comfort since finding and doing The Divine Chaplet the last several months but have gotten out of the habit this last few weeks so getting back to it. ~ Anonymous
