Dear Pam:

As the year draws to a close, I want to again thank you for all of the hard work that you do on behalf of your state parks and forests. The work that you do is very important for today as well as for future generations. Thank you for your dedication and service to Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests.

I also wanted to let you know that Jenna’s official last day with PPFF was this week. Having completed her BS in Public Administration this spring, she is seeking a position that supports her passion for public policy. We thank her for her five years of commitment to the Foundation. During her tenure, not only did she grew the retail space on our website into a robust platform, she supported much of the work that we do and engaged many students in better understanding Leave No Trace. Thank you, Jenna!

We hope to announce a new hire in the next Chapter Monthly!

Happy Holidays!

KNOW

We understand that not everyone can join for the trainings and conversations that we offer. To make learning more flexible, we will be implementing an online learning system that will be there….at your fingertips…when you need it! We hope to unveil this early in the new year. Let us know if you have pressing topics that we should include!

KNOW TOO

The Annual Report Experiment failed. So the 2024 annual report is in the same format as always - a fillable pdf or an Excel spreadsheet. Please choose one and have them submitted prior to 1/31/2025. They are available on the Friends Resources page of the website, as is a link to the annual conflict of interest Google form that must be completed by every member of your board every year.

This annual report is a tool for you as much as a reporting tool for us. Share your successes to build your volunteer base, engage more donors, and to demonstrate your effectiveness!

MORE TO KNOW

The PPFF theme for 2025 is Trails. We chose this theme as state park and forest trails need investment. In 2024, we unsuccessfully advocated for additional trail funding in the state budget. This funding would have not only supported investments in state park and forest trails, it would have closed trail gaps, brought trails closer to communities, and would have created an on-the-ground team of trail experts within DCNR. We are committed to seeing investments in our trails.

If you have a trail story to share, please let us know at trails@paparksandforests.org
