Building a Future Bound for Success at Just 22 Years Old
Welcome home, Mo.
Only eight months into his first job at Prosperity Bank — 22-year-old Mo is now a proud owner of a Green Country Habitat Whittier Townhome. For someone who was a college student just last year, it still feels unreal.
"It's surreal," he says. "Sometimes I sit back and think, this is insane."
Mo came to Habitat with a supportive family and a sister who had already been through the program. He balanced full-time work, sweat equity hours, and homeowner classes to get here — and every step was worth it.
"You just can't pass up an opportunity like that, especially at 22 years old."
The Whittier Townhomes were a smart fit for a young professional just starting out — low maintenance, no surprise repairs, and a prime location near Kendall Whittier, the University of Tulsa, Downtown, and Cherry Street. Now Mo is building equity decades ahead of his peers.
For anyone on the fence, his advice is simple: Trust the process.
"Trust me, I was scared too. But with this program, they walk you through every step. If you work hard and handle your business, there's nothing to be afraid of."
Congratulations, Mo — and welcome home. Special thanks toMaplemark Bank for providing an affordable mortgage.
For the month of June, you can purchase a limited run of hand soap made by recent Green Country Habitat homeowner Ashley and her son at Magnolia Soap and Bath Company.
As June’s “Hope in Soap” partner, Magnolia Soap and Bath Company invited Green Country Habitat and one of our homeowners to hand make these soaps. A cross between the magnolia and the grace scents, these soaps smell like a walk through the garden on a perfect spring morning.
When you buy one of these soaps, 50% of the purchase price goes back to Green Country Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, 20% of your entire purchase at Magnolia Soaps and Bath Company will also be donated if you mention the Hope in Soap campaign through June.
On July 11, Green Country Habitat will raise walls on 10 homes in a single day in North Tulsa's Wilshire Trails neighborhood, near 33rd Street North and Peoria — our largest Clark Howard's Blitz Build ever.
The event will debut our first-ever two-story home and marks the completion of our North Tulsa Initiative, a five-year effort launched in 2021 to build 250 affordable homes in North Tulsa. National consumer expert Clark Howard returns for his 16th year, who helped grow this event from a handful of homes to the record-breaking 10 we're raising this July.
Special thanks to our 2026 Clark Howard Blitz Build sponsors: ONE Gas, ONEOK, Tuesday Morning Miracle Workers, Clark Howard, The Swindler Family, PSO, Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, Attic Storage, Williams, Ameristar | ASSA ABLOY, Chase, and T.D. Williamson.
Rock the House: Studio 918 was an unforgettable night of celebration, community, and disco fever. Under the lights, supporters, community leaders, homeowners, and sponsors came together for an evening full of energy, generosity, and fun.
More than 100 people made donations during the event, providing critical funding that will help build affordable homes for hardworking families in our community. Because of their generosity, more local families will have the opportunity to build strength, stability, and a place to call home.
Want a chance to win four free tickets to next year's Rock the House? Join our Foundation Builders Monthly Giving Society! Not only will you get a chance to attend our annual gala, but you'll be providing consistent funding that helps us better plan ahead and build affordable housing for hardworking families.
