Dear Community Members:
This coming Saturday we are having our inaugural Special Olympics Day in the Coachella Valley at two locations. Please join us as we build this program. In the morning we will be in the Sacred Heart gym and in the afternoon we will be in the Coachella Valley High School gym. The purpose is to sign up athletes, coaches and volunteers. We will also have a number of giveaways and play some sports. Join us.
As I read through this newsletter and think about the past two weeks I am pleased with the number of opportunities, along with our numerous partners, we've helped to create for people with disabilities. This ranges from our regular, consistent programming, through the first ever West Coast Boccia Tournament and clinic, creating new programming in Rancho Cucamonga, to starting cheerleading (February 24), acting, golf, hiking, fishing, and various other programs. We also continue to educate school-age children about ability through Sports for everyBODY!
Our partners are many and I so appreciate collaborating in building greater community and societal inclusion. We are constantly networking in order to build more access, joining together to level the playing field.
I hope to see you soon at one of the activities listed below.
Mike
