Turning the Tables on the Adversary

Multiplying Your Smallest Efforts

SMALL%20ACTS.jpg

Our poor world
carries the weight of centuries of sin,
centuries of rebellion, and centuries of lack of Faith.
And this burden can weigh each of us down
until we can barely move,

barely look at Jesus with love.
Sometimes even a small act seems to require a superhuman effort on our part.

But Jesus told St. Faustina,
we also live in a time of great Grace and Mercy.

Jesus knows the weight that threatens to crush us.
Knowing this,
don't you think that He would MULTIPLY
each effort on your part?

Each gesture of Love for Him?
Each sacrifice?
Every trusting gaze fixed on Him?
Every cry of pain from your heart?
Each act of your will to fulfill His Will?

No effort on your part, no matter how small,
is useless or invisible.
JESUS SEES THEM ALL
AND TAKES THEM ALL INTO ACCOUNT.

Jesus, we trust in You.

JULY JOB REVIEW FROM DAVE

This is from an email Dave sent to the Community:

"July has been our month to get caught up on maintenance during the time the Mission is closed.  This year seemed more difficult, because the heat just kept coming with each day seemingly hotter that the last.  We moved our start time up to 6 am but when the temp at 6 am is 78 - 80 degrees you know you’re in store for a difficult work day.  We managed to get much accomplished in spite of all the setbacks, equipment breaking down, family emergencies, contractors not showing up when scheduled, orders not arriving on time or only a piece at a time.  The challenges just kept coming.

"When people talk about the heat, most folks talk about it from the comfort of a cool home or office. But when you are out from early morning to late afternoon your language in describing the heat takes on a much more colorful tone!  A good example of this is my new boots--now just how is this an example of the heat?  Simple, my new boots melted!  One afternoon I had to work on the new blacktop parking lot at our chapel and the glue on the bottom of my new boots "melted".  That's right, the glue that holds the bottom of the boot to the inner part melted and the bottom of the boot pulled away.  I thought it was hot a few years ago when the plastic flowers melted, but at least my boots didn't melt then!
Our goal was to stop work each day before it reached 100+, but sometimes we just didn't make it.  Sometimes we didn't even know what time it was.

"A few of the the jobs we accomplished during July:

New fans in the chapel.
Alter brass cleaned and polished.
Road to the summit repaired.
Site clearing for the Sisters new house.
Weed control along the roads, Tepeyac, OCC, parking areas and the meadow.
New saw horses used in the parking areas repaired and painted, constructed several new ones to replace the ones that got "run over".
Continued to remove downed limbs from the winter storm.
Tree trimming and brush removal.
Maintenance of well and water storage tank cleaning.
Constructed loading ramp for equipment.
Rainwater collection system at St. Joseph chapel.
Repaired plumbing in the outdoor restrooms.
Equipment repair and cleaning of our trimmers, saws, blowers, golf carts, Polaris's, trailers and trucks.

That's all for now, folks!"

RAINWATER%20COLLECTION.jpg
If it ever rains again, we are ready to collect it! Dave, Steve and Hunter are finishing up the installation of a rainwater collection system behind St. Joseph Chapel to capture precious water for a variety of  uses.
HILBIG.jpg

Robert Hilbig works on a repair of a trailer bed in 100 degree heat. As Father John Mary often says, "Why wait? Start your purgatory at the Mission!"

CLEARING%201.jpg

M.C. Ethridge's big machines are clearing cedar and brush on Shepherds'  Hill in preparation for pouring the foundation of the Sisters' new residence. Destruction precedes construction.

RAUL%20CLEARING.jpg

Better than the big machines is Raul. His amazing stamina, even in this heat,  and his dedication to maintaining the standards he sets for the Mission grounds, keep the Mission looking great.

A NETWORK OF TRUST

"This is what MDM is called to be: a growing communion of trust in His Mercy for our needy world." ~ Fr. John Mary

MDM started encouraging people to pray "Jesus, I trust in You"  ten times a day back in 2011. Recently we felt it was important to remind people to turn to Jesus with this simple, powerful prayer in a world that feels more and more out of control. We are suggesting 20 times, but some people find themselves repeating it hundreds of times. It reminds our troubled souls that GOD IS IN CONTROL.

Many of you have put your name on our growing list and have also left a prayer intention or testimony:

Attended Mass on 6/16/23 and I felt so much peace. ~Maricruz

Oh my Jesus. Trusting you has empowered me in ways I didn’t know possible. Daily I face spiritual battles that wear me out. Only by surrendering to Divine Assistance is my soul at rest. Jesus, my Jesus I trust you to order my steps in accordance with God’s amazing plan. ~Jill

If you can’t trust Jesus, who can you trust? Jesus I Trust in You, 20 times is easy now. I say it many times when I’m driving instead of saying what I used say! !~ Ronnie

"Jesus I Trust In You!" I will continue to claim God's Promise - Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 .  I believe I did the best I could as a mom. I need prayers now for me. May our Lord Jesus Christ, place in my heart, Soul and mind to just trust Him and to be able to learn to "Live and Let Live" and to "Let go and let God" handle the rest of my journey now that they are adults. Praying in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen! ~Guadalupe
