CALL TO ACTION – OR, WA and ID
Public Invited to Blue Mountains Revision Meetings

Here is our invitation to get involved early

in the crucial planning process –

The Blues Intergovernmental Council (BIC) has begun public engagement sessions and we encourage you to participate. Early involvement is vitally important. (Schedule appears below.) Public participation ensures that local interests are incorporated into this Revised Forest Plan which includes active airstrips Red’s Horse Ranch (68D), Memaloose (25U), Lord Flat (OR9) and B&H (O62).

The BIC was formed in 2019 of county, state, federal and Tribal leaders from entities surrounding the Blue Mountains, representing numerous perspectives and interests regarding forest management.

These are not formal comment opportunities, but public input from these sessions will help BIC and the Forest Service understand issues and community impacts as the Forest Service begins plan revision. You may ask questions and share concerns at these meetings. There may be those who oppose access. The RAF respectfully holds that aviation is a legitimate, low impact use of the backcountry, and access by air should be preserved.

The public will also have opportunities to provide feedback directly to the Forest Service during its Forest Plan Revision process at specified formal comment periods.

In the meantime, please consider attending one of these BIC meetings in person, or online via Zoom.

Thank you for helping preserve backcountry aviation access.

For questions, additional information, or to receive the dial-in instructions for the Zoom, please email bluesintergovernmentalcouncil@gmail.com.
