Autistic Atheists: Humanism and Neurodiversity

📅  Sunday, November 9th 🕖 1:00 – 2:00 PM EDT

Awareness of, and interest in, ADHD, Autism and other forms of neurodiversity have increased dramatically in recent years, and evidence suggests that non-religious people are more likely to be neurodivergent. This is a great time to explore these issues from a humanist perspective.

Join us for a thought-provoking webinar that examines the intersections between humanist and neurodivergent identities and perspectives, offering practical ways to make communities more inclusive.

In this webinar, Alastair Lichten will explore how humanist values of inclusion, curiosity, and empathy intersect with neurodiversity, aiming to clarify why neurodivergent people are more likely to be humanists and how this understanding fosters more inclusive communities

This topic is especially urgent, as neurodivergent individuals remain disproportionately vulnerable to pseudoscience, health misinformation, and persistent social stigma—challenges that humanists are deeply committed to countering.

Live Without Religion Peer Support Group Monthly Online Meeting

📅 Tuesday, October 21 | 🕖 7:00 pm MDT

Leaving a belief system, especially a high-control religion, can be challenging or even leave psychological trauma, sequels or scars.

Oftentimes, deciding to leave one's religion comes with losing community and breaking up with a whole set of memories and lifestyles.

The Centre for Inquiry Canada’s Living Without Religion (LWR) peer support group provides a safe, non-judgmental space where former believers and those questioning their faith can share experiences, ask questions, and support each other on their journeys.

Meetings are held in Toronto, Ottawa, and virtually, ensuring access for participants nationwide. For more information, visit the Centre for Inquiry Canada website.
