Volunteers Needed
2 volunteers are needed to help set up the food for the Open House on February 13. Volunteers need to arrive by 5:00 pm. Please contact Forest Graber (Forest@Friendsofvalledeoro.org) if you are able to help.
Nature Tots- Children ages 3-6 and an adult are invited to explore nature with a refuge ranger!10:00 am - 11:30 am
Saturday at the Refuge Join us for a ranger-led activity, arts and crafts, and fun for the whole Family! Free refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Valle de Oro. 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Nature KidsCelebrate the season with a story, related activity, and explorations around the refuge. Perfect for ages 7-10. 10:00 am-11:30 am
Backyard Habitat ChatIf you’re feeling stuck with the application process,bring pictures of your yard and join us for the February 15th Backyard Habitat Chat. We’ll have staff and volunteers on hand to guide you through the process, and you can pick up your sign and stickers that day! 10:00 am-12:00 noon
Bark RangersBring your furry friends to learn about our pet policies on the refuge and take the pledge to be apart of the program. All dogs required to be on 6ft non-retractable leash and non-reactive around others. 10:00 am - 12:00 noon

Photo Contest
Winning photos in the Valle de Oro annual photo contest will be posted soon in the Visitor Center. Start taking photos now for this year's contest, and submit them before December 31. Categories for the contest are: Wildlife and Plants; People; and Landscapes.
The Refuge Development committee has been busy writing grants to fund Refuge projects such as the Nature Play Area.
Free shuttle rides on the refuge, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, will resume soon – watch for the date!
Staff of the EJAir program continues to set air quality monitors throughout the south valley. Biosampling, to identify elements of air pollution, will begin soon.
