Summer 2024 Paid College Internship Program will be June 10-August 2, 2024. This 8-week program provides an opportunity for rising sophomore, junior and senior college students to work 30 hours/week at companies located in the Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties. Funding for the interns is provided by SoMD 2030 initiative.

The student portal opened Nov 6th, deadline to apply and submit all requested materials is Friday, December 8.

Save the date!  The 2nd annual Spark! Student Career Awareness Fair will be Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the USMSM SMART Building. The inaugural fair featured 26 organizations that provided hands-on demos and interactive booths to 440 high school students from the tri-county area. Seeking companies to participate. The NAVAIR North Stars BAA is posted on Sam.gov.  This is the BAA that was referenced at the NAVAIR ICE event. The Government is interested in receiving white papers for research and development, which may include but is not limited to, rapid prototyping, demonstration, and experimentation projects that offer potential for advancements and improvements in Integrated Warfighting Capability across the Naval Aviation Mission Areas supporting Naval Operations and as applicable to Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and subordinate Commands. St. Mary’s Ryken High School (SMRHS) announced an upcoming Flight Academy Program beginning in the 2024-2025 School Year! The Patuxent Partnership donated 24 flight simulators to SMRHS in May 2022. The Flight Academy Simulation Laboratory will provide a rich experience to students completing the new AOPA aviation curriculum the track. In addition, St. Mary’s Ryken is exploring partnerships with local flight schools to help bridge the journey from the academic and simulation environment into the actual cockpit by a student’s senior year. “We welcome outreach by local businesses that may want to become involved in student projects, mentorship opportunities, and sponsoring local high school student internships” said Swift.- For more information and to view the course descriptions, you can visit the St. Mary’s Ryken Flight Academy website at https://www.smrhs.org/flightacademy or contact the Flight Academy Instructor, Mr. Jerry Swift, at Gerald.swift@smrhs.org.

The National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) is announcing open season for NDTA Foundation Scholarship Applications for the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Applications are being accepted now through April 15th via e-mail, NDTAHQ@ndtahq.com NDTA wants to provide scholarships to students pursuing an education in logistics, transportation, or passenger travel. Our goal is to foster the growth and development of logistics and transportation professionals. Not only do we provide students with scholarships, but we provide those same students with the opportunity to join our Industry Connect Program (ICP). CALLING ALL JUDGES! UAS Research and Operations Center 2024 Summer Internships/Full-time, paid program!

  • PAID full-time internships in southern Maryland at their 12,000 sq. ft. research hangar at St. Mary’s County Airport, near Naval Air Station Patuxent River
  • Interns must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Summer 2024 internship program will run from Wednesday, May 29, 2024 – early August 2024
  • Positions may be continued part-time into the academic year at the student’s home institution.
  • Project must fly (or try!) by the end of the summer; It is a flight operations center!
  • For students who do not live close enough to commute, the UROC will offer affordable local options. Details TBA.

  • American Association of Community Colleges visits CSM to discuss strengthening region’s workforce pipeline. During the visit, the AACC team received extensive overviews of the college’s commitment to strengthen its business partnerships, build collaborative communities, and serve the southern Maryland region as the “hub’ of learning, credentialing, workforce development, and mobility for all students.
  • CSM will be hosting VEX Robotics Tournaments in January 2024 at the La Plata campus. On January 18, volunteers are needed to help set up for the competitions. Warfighter ADVANCE, a 7-day program, offers relief and clarity to warfighters. Many cases of post-traumatic stress go unrecognized, unreported, and untreated during deployment or after veterans return home. Warfighter ADVANCE teaches new coping skills and equips warfighters for recovery and successful reintegration. The ADVANCE is, a 7-day program that uses a variety of means to change the trajectory of the Warfighter’s (active duty or veteran) post-deployment life, so that the Warfighter has a life characterized by pride, productivity, healthy relationships, continued service, and advocacy for the same outcomes for their fellow service members.
