U.S. Resettlement Remains Possible for Afghans

Afghan interpreters, drivers, and support staff risked their lives to assist U.S. troops during the war in Afghanistan. In return for their service, they were promised safety. However, many of these individuals are now in danger, waiting for the opportunity to safely relocate as planned.

Although the federal WelcomeCorps resettlement program has ended and new restrictions limit resettlement, one path remains open: Afghans with Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) are still eligible to come to the U.S.

Thanks to sponsors in 33 states and DC, the Community Sponsorship Hub has helped nearly 500 Afghan allies resettle over just the past four months. It’s the only active U.S. program helping these families find safety and rebuild their lives.

We encourage you to stand with those who stood by us. Click Get Involved below to visit Community Sponsorship Hub's website and learn how you can help.

MFA Advocates for Extension of TPS for Syrians

Along with our partners, MFA has signed onto a letter advocating for the extension of the current Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation for Syrians. TPS is currently set to expire in September 2025, however Syria remains in the midst of a complex humanitarian crisis and political transition that renders a safe return impossible. The extension of TPS would allow Syrians to remain in the U.S. until Syria becomes more stable. Click here to read the full letter.
