βοΈ Summer Fun at DogPaw: Keep Our Parks Thriving! π³
Dear DogPaw Friends, Volunteers, and Supporters,
Summer 2025 is here, bringing more wagging tails and off-leash adventures! πΎπ As more visitors enjoy our four DogPaw parks, we need your help with an important message:
DogPaw is 100% community-funded! π We receive zero taxpayer dollars. Everything from waste removal to fencing and maintenance is paid for through memberships, donations, and sponsorships. Our annual budget is $60,000 to $75,000!
Many assume parks are city or county funded, but they're not! Please help us spread the word. Without community support, these off-leash parks wouldn’t exist.
We need your donations to keep the parks clean, safe, and open. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference for our dogs and their humans. πΆ
Become a DogPaw Member: Directly funds park maintenance. β
Make a Donation: Every dollar helps keep gates open! π°
Encourage Businesses to Sponsor: Connect us with pet-friendly businesses. π€
Volunteer Your Time: We always need extra paws! ππ¦Ί
Let's ensure everyone knows how to keep our parks running! Together, we can keep our off-leash parks safe and happy places for all. π³

PAST EVENTS:
Huge Success: DogPaw's 2025 Community Vendor Event!
On June 14, 2025, our DogPaw Community Vendor Event at Pacific Community Park (next to Dakota Dog Park) was a tremendous success!
Thank you to all who made it happen:
Over 40 incredible businesses, non-profits, and government entities for participating. Your involvement was key!
Our dedicated volunteers for countless hours getting this event off the ground and making it a success.
Scout Troop 370 Scout Master Edwin Ripplingerfor expertly directing overflow vendor parking, which made a huge difference.
Clark County employees Lisa Hiam, Jan and Olivia for ensuring mowed grass, clean bathrooms, and a sparkling park. Your efforts are much appreciated!
All visitors who supported the event, learned about our vendors, and engaged with the community.
This event successfully raised over $10,000 in new business sponsorships and donations! These vital funds directly support our annual budget ($60,000-$75,000), covering essential costs like fence repair, maintenance, and removing an estimated 1,600 pounds of dog waste per week from our four off-leash parks – our biggest expense! With over 2,000 dogs visiting weekly in nice weather, your support provides immense community benefit.
Thank you for being a crucial part of our mission to keep these cherished off-leash areas thriving for all our furry friends and their families!

POSITIVE TAILS (TALES)!
πΎ Celebrating Eddie Dorr, The Heart of Ike Memorial Dog Park
This year, we're honored to celebrate a remarkable milestone for a truly beloved member of our DogPaw family: Eddie Dorr! A founding DogPaw member since 2005, Eddie is celebrating his 20th year of dedicated volunteer service to our off-leash parks.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a day when Eddie isn't at Ike Memorial Dog Park, tirelessly managing the grounds and ensuring it's a wonderful place for all. He truly is the heart of Ike.
Recently, Eddie's beloved Golden Retriever, Auggie, crossed the rainbow bridge. In a beautiful show of appreciation and community spirit, a group of Ike park-goers came together to raise funds for a special bench in Eddie's honor and in memory of Auggie. It took a dedicated team of volunteers to bring this heartfelt project to completion on June 7th.
We invite you to visit Ike Memorial Dog Park and see the new bench, located right next to his late wife's bench at the top of the park. If you see Eddie around, please take a moment to let him know how much he is appreciated. His unwavering dedication for two decades has made a profound difference to DogPaw and to countless dogs and their humans.

Honoring Our Fallen K9 Heroes πΎπ
DogPaw’s four off-leash parks are named in memory of brave K9s who gave their lives in the line of duty.
πΎ K9 Dakota
(Vancouver PD) – Fatally shot in 2007 while tracking an armed suspect.
πΎ K9 Ike
(Vancouver PD) – Stabbed in 2015 while apprehending a wanted individual.
πΎ K9 Lucky
(Clark County Sheriff’s Office) – Shot in 1990 while tracking a robbery suspect.
πΎ K9 Kane
(Clark County Sheriff’s Office) – Stabbed in 2011 during a pursuit of armed suspects.
These courageous K9s protected and served our community, and we honor their legacy with gratitude. Their sacrifice reminds us of the dedication of all officers, past and present. ππΎ
Please avoid leaving valuables unattended in your vehicle. It only takes seconds for someone to break a window and take your belongings. Thank you for helping us keep our parks safe and secure for everyone to enjoy!
