Director's Note - February 2025
The Guild’s principles steady me in uncertain times and provide solid guidance. The decision to offer free Guild membership to recently fired federal foresters and other conservation expertswas driven by our principle that the “practice of forestry must be grounded in field observation and experience.” The country can’t afford to lose the accumulated knowledge of so many of our colleagues. Along-time member in Maine reaffirmed my decision with a donation to support membership for recently fired forest stewards – thank you!
Please join the momentum and donate if you can. Your support will help us weather the rapid shift in federal priorities and uncertainty around investments. Our mission to practice and promote stewardship to forge a healthy future for people and forests is nonpartisan and we will continue to work with Tribal, federal, state, local, and private organizations for forests.
This month’s newsletter edition is a good example of the creative, inspiring, and practical solutions the Guild advances every day. Numerous events provide the chance to connect with other stewards from California to Maine. Stay engaged and stay connected.
Thank you,
