"Our Earth is crying. Can we hear it? With every street that became a river this July, with every home lost, with every human tragedy, a profound truth emerged: We are not separate from the Earth. Her suffering is our suffering."

How One UUMFE Member is Utilizing our Climate Justice Resources
"When our minister asked the Earth Care Team to co-lead this year's earth-month service, we were pleased to say 'yes.' But where to start finding prayers, songs, and other sources of inspiration? Fortunately, I am active with UUMFE so knew I could start by reviewing its offerings on the website. One of the several services they support is Earth Care, so it took only a few clicks to find exactly the readings and music that would fit this occasion. This allowed me to spend more time fashioning a sermon that complemented the readings than might have been the case otherwise. Although the resources are available to all, a modest donation is requested, which we were glad to do. Thanks to the UUMFE for helping make the service so meaningful."
—Anne-Marie McCartan, UUMFE supporter and newly installed Board Member At-Large

Accountability to the Earth - Rev. Dr. Michael Tino
The beginning of August is celebrated in European paganism as the beginning of the harvest season, known as Lammas or Lughnasadh. We will celebrate the ways in which the Earth sustains our lives, and ponder what accountability means in this context.

Demystifying AI-Powered Militarization and its Social and Ecological Consequences
September 11, 2025 8pm ET • 7pm CT • 6pm MT • 5pm PT
AI technologies, the newest stage of digital evolution, are being rapidly integrated into existing systems of extraction and domination, with plans underway to increase the speed and scale of these projects. This comes as human and ecological systems are already being stressed and shattered by existing technologies as well as emboldened projects of authoritarian fascism. We stand at a crucial point where demystifying AI and its impact is paramount for the fight for democracy and life.
Dr. Nicholas Rabb will explain the nuances of AI technology – what it can and cannot do – and its interaction with existing social systems. Drawing on emerging declarations from U.S. military bodies, as well as recent AI-powered military operations in Palestine and against U.S. immigrants, he will illuminate the consequences of current and future projects where AI is being used to advance human and ecological suffering. But perhaps more importantly, Rabb will make clear how AI is just another tool in service of old and persistent aims – capitalist growth, international control, domestic compliance – and that these sites of struggle should remain our focus even in the coming AI era.
Press Release: "World’s highest court issues clear ruling: Countries must protect the climate and compensate for harms to people and planet"
The UUSC released a statement last month in response to the International Court of Justice's advisory opinion on a landmark ruling involving Pacific Island Students Fighting Climate Change.
Mayuri Anupindi, Global Advocacy Strategist for UUSC said, “This is a momentous day for climate justice. The Court affirmed that climate change is an existential human rights crisis and upheld the right of every one of us to a healthy and sustainable environment. It dismissed arguments powerful states used to evade legal responsibility. Pacific Island youth led this campaign to help secure our future, and they have been vindicated. Now it is for States to fulfill their legal duty to protect our climate.”

We begin with live music from Parker Woodland and a conversation about Solidarity with Side with Love’s Nicole Pressley and Deepa Iyer, author of this year’s UUA Common Read Social Change Now: A Guide for Reflection and Connection. As Nicole said after a conversation at General Assembly, “Deepa’s work at the intersections of solidarity, social change ecosystems, and movement building has been an important roadmap for so many of us navigating the complexity and urgency of this moment. Her reflections on grief, solidarity, and sustainable activism are brilliant and grounding.” Join us to continue the conversation!
Climate Resilience through Disaster Response and Community Care
How can we center the inherent worth and dignity of every person in climate disasters?
Every community is different, and climate impacts will vary at the hyper-local level. Some neighborhoods may be devastated by a hurricane while others experience only minor impacts. Adequate preparation and response for climate disasters must center the lived experiences and impacts of climate disasters on those most at risk. Learn more, download our toolkit, and take action.

A Climate Cafe is a gentle, nonjudgmental space to simply be human. A place where you can speak from the heart—or stay quiet and just listen. A place where it’s okay to feel whatever is there. Climate grief is often entangled with many other kinds of grief, and you are welcome to bring all of it.
Research shows that while most people feel alone with their feelings, the majority of people are concerned about climate change. You are not alone. Talking about these feelings in groups can help make them bearable.

Youth Power is Steering the Future of Electric Transportation in Hawai‘i
One year ago, youth in Hawaiʻi made history. Through Navahine v. HDOT, they secured a first-of-its-kind legal settlement agreement to decarbonize Hawaiʻi’s transportation system by 2045 and protect young people’s constitutional rights to a livable climate. But the fight didn’t end with the legal victory—it was just the beginning.
