Through your generosity, we have raised over $11,500  during our Annual Appeal.

The Eau Claire County Democratic Party will put all our financial and volunteer resources into important local elections this spring and into crucial state and national elections this fall. When we put all our resources into getting votes for Democrats and nonpartisan progressives, we can protect democracy and enact changes that Wisconsin needs.

Greetings,

The 2024 election season is already upon us. Throughout this newsletter you will find ways you can get involved in shaping our future. From canvassing to caucuses to conventions--there is much to be done.
Key dates to remember:
Spring Elections April 2nd
Our Spring celebration April 13th
3rd CD Convention April 14th
Our County Caucus April 28th
We sincerely thank you for your donations to our annual appeal. Your generosity, as well as membership renewals and new members signing up, puts us in a good position going
into a year of many significant elections.
This year we will have support from the WI state Democratic Party. Already at work are regional organizing director Connor Burke and campus youth organizer Zach Britt. By mid-March, Dylan Vangsness will start working as a full time field organizer for Eau Claire and Chippewa counties. They cannot get out the winning votes alone. Please extend them your support by saying YES to volunteering to make phone calls, knock on doors, write post cards, feed the volunteers, staff the front desk, and more.
Your hard work electing Justice Janet Protasiewicz a year ago has brought us the opportunity to participate in fair elections again. That is why it is so important that you get involved and vote. Not just this fall, but NOW in the upcoming spring local elections on
Tuesday April 2nd. Success in spring elections is essential for the functioning of our local government, and it also provides the momentum we need for success this fall.
Solidarity,
Phil Swanhorst
Chair Eau Claire County Democratic Party

A women whose name should be known to anyone who uses computers, Grace Hopper (1906-1992) created "plain language programming" which paved the way for modern computing. Dr. Hopper earned Ph.Ds.in math and physics. She was a professor of mathematics at Vassar when she joined the US Naval Reserve. She was assigned to program one of the first computers, the Mark 1, and wrote the first computer manual. In 1969, Hopper was awarded the first-ever Computer Science Man of the Year Award from the Data Processing Management Association. The U.S. Navy recalled Hopper to active duty in 1967 and promoted her to Rear Admiral. She loved educating people about how computers work. Her lectures were legendary and can still be viewed online. Hopper received numerous awards and honorary degrees and was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama.
