Recent Testimonials
Being a mentor means that my past has power to impact the future of those connected to me. What was once used to cage me physically, emotionally, and spiritually, now introduces freedom and choice to someone just starting to break out. Being a mentor means helping shine a light into the shadows as another person is making their journey into a different path. Being a mentor means that steps I took afraid and alone, another person has a companion and a champion. - Jaime, WNL Mentor
If I'm being honest I joined WNL to make myself look better for probation and the judicial system. What I didn't know at that time was WNL was going to give me exactly what I didn't even know I needed. My support network was virtually non existent with most of my family and friends being involved with drugs or alcohol or being involved with the law in some way. Just initially talking with the staff and founders about the program I could feel that they genuinely cared about me and my future, it wasn't just another program trying to collect funding. My mentor would reach out to me, and even came by to check on me when he had not heard from me for awhile. We would get together and go do something around town, normally lunch and just talk about life. Never one sided we talked about his family and life also and grew into more than a mentor mentee relationship, we became friends. My mentor and other staff offered to help me in any way they could and anytime I needed something they normally delivered. Ultimately I went to prison, but the whole staff and my mentor was in the court for support. But it didn't end there, my entire incarceration involved weekly motivational messages, in person visits from my mentor and video visits with staff all so I could constantly he reminded that I'm not alone, WNL stands behind me and believes in me. Overall, WNL has been a constant blessing, I encourage new people to join and spread the mission as much as possible and I look forward to giving back
