Bad news for Bayer-Monsanto. Good news for Bayer-Monsanto. The pendulum keeps swinging. Glyphosate and atrazine, the two most widely used herbicides in America, are both in the news. And so are Chobani yogurt and frankenmilk. You heard that right... frankenmilk. Keep scrolling for all the news that’s fit to print. And then some....

Landmark Glyphosate Safety Study Retracted for Monsanto Ghostwriting, Other Ethics Problems

A scientific study that regulators around the world relied on for decades to justify continued approval of glyphosate was quietly retracted over serious ethical issues including secret authorship by Monsanto employees – raising questions about the pesticide approval process in the U.S. and globally. The 2000 study by Gary Williams, Robert Kroes and Ian Munro – which concluded glyphosate does not pose a health risk to humans at typical exposure levels – was ghostwritten by Monsanto employees, and was “based solely on unpublished studies from Monsanto,” wrote Martin van den Berg, co-editor-in-chief of Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology. It also ignored “multiple other long-term chronic toxicity and carcinogenicity studies” that were available at the time.

In light of this new and indisputable change in evidence, EPA’s registrations of glyphosate-based herbicides like Bayer-Monsanto’s Roundup must be revoked. Since the current EPA is fully corrupt, with chemical industry lobbyists occupying every position of management, it’s the duty of the President and Congress to do their jobs and protect Americans. Trump Administration Sides With Bayer in Seeking Supreme Court Ruling on Roundup Fight

Bayer, the beleaguered maker of Roundup herbicide, has garnered the support of the U.S. Department of Justice in its court battle to turn back a tide of lawsuits brought by people claiming the company failed to warn them of cancer risks associated with its weedkillers. In a Dec. 1 filing with the U.S. Supreme Court, Solicitor General D. John Sauer, appointed by Trump, told the court that it should take up an appeal from Bayer that the company hopes could help it quash ongoing lawsuits inherited when it bought Monsanto in 2018. A similar effort by Bayer to get the high court to weigh in on the preemption issue was rejected in 2022 after the Biden administration’s Solicitor General asked the high court not to hear Bayer’s appeal on the same issue, saying that “FIFRA (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act) does not preempt” such claims.

So there it is. This administration has chosen a side. With a corporate friendly Supreme Court, we're not sure how this will play out. And let's not forget Clarence Thomas was once a Monsanto lawyer. But even if the highest court in the land sides with Bayer, the fight is not over. We won't give up and neither should you.

Outrage Builds as 'Franken-Milk' Made in Labs Prepares to Hit U.S. Grocery Shelves

A Bill Gates-backed "milk" that comes from lab-grown 'mammalian cell cultures' is just months away from being sold in U.S. grocery stores. But it's already facing fierce resistance. Dubbed UnReal Milk, the new beverage is not produced by real animals, but comes from large lab tanks called bioreactors that use special animal cells which produce the same proteins, fats, and carbs found in regular cow's milk. The maker of the milk alternative, Brown Foods, plans to start selling UnReal Milk at a grocery store near you in 2026. The company revealed it has the FDA green light to sell its milk because it is using 'Generally Recognized As Safe' (GRAS) ingredients and self-affirming its own safety data.

In other words, there are no safety studies at all. As we usually say about these frankenfoods: Not wanted. Not needed. Not proven safe. We recommend warning your friends and family. An educated consumer is their worst enemy. If no one buys, the company will go bankrupt.

A Month After Trump Administration Doubles Down on Atrazine, IARC Designates It a Probable Human Carcinogen

Just a month after the Trump administration doubled down on the alleged safety of atrazine, the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) designated the pesticide—which is banned by over 60 countries but is the second most widely used weedkiller in the U.S.—a probable human carcinogen. “It is outrageously irresponsible that we still allow use of this dangerous poison in the United States,” said Nathan Donley, the Center for Biological Diversity’s environmental health science director. “This finding is just the latest indictment of the industry-controlled U.S. pesticide oversight process that is failing to protect people and wildlife from chemicals linked to numerous health harms.”

The EPA currently has a docket open for public comment concerning its assessment, based on industry studies, that atrazine is not toxic to endangered species. We hope you’ll take a minute to let them know what you think of putting the profits of China-owned Syngenta over our precious, endangered wildlife. We've made it quick and easy to take action. But please do it today. The deadline to add your voice is Monday at midnight ET:

San Francisco Sues 11 Companies Over Health Impacts of Ultraprocessed Foods (UPFs)

San Francisco city attorney David Chiu announced the first government lawsuit of its kind against 11 Big Food companies: Coca-Cola, ConAgra, General Mills, Kellanova, Kellogg's, Kraft-Heinz, Mars, Nestle, Mondelez, PepsiCo and Post. The lawsuit accuses the companies of using cheap ingredients, adding flavor and color, to make unhealthy and addictive products. "They took food and made it unrecognizable and harmful to the human body," Chiu said in a news release. "These companies engineered a public health crisis, they profited handsomely, and now they need to take responsibility for the harm they have caused."

Studies, one after another, have been rolling out showing all the chronic diseases that UPFs can cause. All of these GMO, pesticide and chemical laced junk foods are purposely designed to be addictive in the same way as tobacco and opioids. We hope this is the first of many lawsuits to come.

Yogurt Brand Contains Cancer-Causing Chemicals Despite Claim It Uses 'Only Natural Ingredients'

A California woman sued Chobani, alleging that the company has misled consumers by marketing its products as containing 'only natural ingredients.' Amy Wysocki filed the class-action lawsuit, highlighting independent testing by research organization PlasticList that found phthalates, a class of chemicals used in plastics to increase flexibility and durability, in the yogurts. Phthalates can have harmful health effects, including disrupting the endocrine system, negatively affecting reproductive health and potentially increasing the risk of cancer. The third-party report suggested these chemicals likely leached into the yogurt from its plastic packaging.

This is one of the reasons we recommend moving away from plastics for storage of food or drinks. It's just not safe, plain and simple. Scroll down to our affiliates section to find just what you need to make and store your own yogurt and some great food storage ideas.

FDA Scraps Rule Ensuring That Talc-Containing Cosmetics Do Not Contain Carcinogenic Asbestos

The 2024 rule was mandated under the 2022 Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act, passed by Congress and signed into law, requiring the FDA to implement methods of detecting the carcinogenic chemical in talc-containing cosmetics. The kind of products that contain talc vary—such as mascaras, eye shadows, lip liners, foundation, tanning lotions and nail polish. Had the rule been implemented, it would have required manufacturers to test their talc-containing cosmetic products and ingredients and demonstrate compliance. Dr. Philip Landrigan, professor of biology at Boston College, said: "I consider it a serious mistake to withdraw this rule. Removing the requirement for manufacturers to test talc-containing products for asbestos will unnecessarily expose consumers, and especially women and their babies, to a powerful human carcinogen. Talc and asbestos are similar minerals that often can occur together in ore deposits. Thus, when talc is mined, asbestos is commonly present in the talc, and the two materials cannot easily be separated. The consequence is that many commercial talc formulations contain detectable levels of asbestos and have done so for many years. This is why it is so important to screen each batch of talc before it goes to market to be sure that it is free of asbestos."

The FDA claims it will be writing a new rule. But the agency is just kicking the can down the road. What's the point of wasting time and taxpayer money re-writing something that is already good? With all the rollbacks, it is likely that the FDA won’t implement any new rules. All we've seen from this administration so far on food, water, and consumer products are rule rollbacks and delays. Corporate profits over America's health.
