Nov. 1st: Bikes, Trikes, and Electric Bicycles! OH MY!
This Saturday, November 1st, is a double-header of wheeled events - both free & open to the public!
On O‘ahu’s west side (‘Ewa Elementary School from 10am-2pm), HBL will be at the Ewa Bike Expooffering free keiki bike rides, exploratory trike rides, e-bike education, and more.
At Magic Island (7:30-11am) HBL will be at the Hawai‘i Parkinson Walk & Resource Fair. Check out the HBL booth where we’ll be providing info on the benefits of cycling & showing off one of our recumbent trikes!
Holiday City Lights Parade✨Saturday, Nov. 29th
Lights, cameras, bells, and BICYCLES! We are tremendously excited to announce HBL has been invited to ride along with the City’s Complete Street "Sleigh Team" in this year’s Honolulu City Lights Parade! Happening on the last Saturday of November (Nov. 29th), this is one of the biggest parades on the island, attracting tens of thousands of spectators and is certainly not one to miss - sign up now (we’re limited to 40 riders!) & let’s get festive and ride in this epic holiday parade!
The 2026 HBL Member band will be mailed out to all active Members later this month. This year’s color: ʻIlima Orange!

Open House at the HBL Office
Throughout 2025 HBL has been celebrating its 50th anniversary. On Tuesday, December 16th, we’re opening our Kaimukī office space to our members and supporters as a final celebration.
Attendance is freebut we ask that you register! Snacks will be provided and drinks will be available for donation. HBL staff will be there to talk story and give you a tour. We’ll also have some historical items on display. Come join us for a final toast to 2025 and our 50th anniversary!

In Hawai‘i, to be considered an e-bike (registrable to be ridden on public streets) the bicycle must meet these three criteria:
It's a 2- or 3-wheeled vehicle with fully operable pedals.
It has an electric motor under 750 watts (1 h.p.)
The top-speed the motor can provide assistanceis not over 20 MPH (maximum!).
As a reminder, you must be at least 15 years of age to be on an electric bicycle in Hawai‘i. And in Honolulu County, everyone on an e-bike must wear a properly fastened helmet. Find out more about e-bikes & the laws here!
HDOT Publishes Final Energy Security & Waste Reduction Plan
