Last month, a select group of young emerging leaders in Senegal’s Our Sisters Lead program participated in a weekend leadership retreat. Over the course of two weekends, 60 young women and 14 young men attended workshops on topics that they themselves identified as important, including environmental stewardship, substance abuse and the prevention of gender-based violence.
These changemakers will now go out into their communities and raise awareness on these topics hosting small group conversations, larger scale regional meetings, radio programs and caravans applying their leadership skills to bring about change in their communities. Congrats to these incredible leaders!
Meet Zuhura
Please join us in celebrating the graduation of Zuhura, one of our scholars in Migori county, Kenya. She was a pioneer scholar with partner organization Hope for Girls @ VISA. Not only is her hard work and dedication to her studies something to celebrate, but Zuhura is also a successful entrepreneur having opened her own beauty salon business in Kegonga.
Zuhura's success serves as an example to other young girls and women in the community that girls can do anything!
