EFDE Unveils New Program
The EFDE is excited to announce our new Transportation Program! If you are a Delaware resident, have been diagnosed with epilepsy/seizure disorder and under the care of a neurologist, then may qualify for this FREE program.
Rides are provided by Uber Health and must be scheduled through EFDE.
Do you know someone who has made an impact on the epilepsy community in Delaware? Nominate them for the Delaware Epilepsy Warrior Award so we can honor them for their care, support and dedication. The winner will be announced on April 26, 2025 at our Evening With EFDE Event at Schellville. Self nominations will be accepted as well. The deadline to nominate is February 28. Click here for the nomination form:
A big thank you to everyone who traveled to Dover to attend EFDE's Legislative Luncheon. We had a wonderful turn out and support from legislators and their staff. We will continue advocating for our epilepsy warriors throughout Delaware by raising awareness and educating others.
Exciting News! EFDE is honored to have been chosen by the Gals That Give Charity as a beneficiary non-profit. Mark your calendar for Wednesday, October 22, bring a friend, and plan to join us for a fun evening, which will include dinner, a pick-a-prize auction, and a 50/50. More information to come and tickets go on sale next month.
Gals That Give provides a platform for local non-profits to raise both funds and awareness through their monthly events. The evening is filled with hundreds of women (and some men) gathered for a delicious dinner, uplifting camaraderie, and a meaningful purpose. Each event highlights and focuses on a local non-profit whose mission positively impacts the community, and also fundraises with a robust auction where 100% of funds go to the monthly non-profit.
We are so grateful to Gals That Give for this opportunity and look forward to seeing our community there!
Auction Donations Needed
Do you have a vacation home? Tickets to a sporting event? A new designer handbag or jewelry? Would you be willing to donate them or another item to EFDE for our Evening With EFDE Auction or our Gals That Give Auction? We are collecting items and baskets for BOTH events, so any donations would be greatly appreciated! If you have questions or need additional information, please call our office at 302-999-9313. Thank you!

Seizure First Aid Certification training increases the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognize seizures and safely administer seizure first aid. Those who successfully complete the course will receive a two-year certification.
Knowing how to help someone during a seizure can make a difference and save a life. While everyone should know basic seizure first aid, becoming seizure first aid certified helps further with learning about epilepsy, recognizing signs of a seizure, using basic seizure first aid steps, and knowing when emergency medical help is needed.
Seizure First Aid Certification is designed for people who:
Have a family member, loved one, or friend with seizures
Have a job where you provide care for people with seizures
Have a job where you work with the public or work with someone who has or could potentially have seizures
Coach or lead groups
If your workplace or school would benefit from Seizure First Aid Training, contact us to schedule your FREE Zoom or in-person course.
I volunteer for EFDE because I am an epilepsy mom and family doctor. My son AJ had his first seizure at 5 months old and was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, a severe, drug-resistant form of epilepsy with many other challenges. AJ was admitted to the ICU monthly as an infant and struggled with warm temperatures and bright sunlight. After many trials of medicine, he began the ketogenic diet at 3 years old and we enjoyed 5 years without an ER visit or hospital stay. He loved school, his physical, occupational and speech therapists and aids, who helped him run, learn to type and read. Our family was able to enjoy the beach and playing outside with this good seizure control. When he was 8 years old, he had an unexpected prolonged seizure and died. I serve with hope for all families to enjoy a good quality of life and the best possible outcomes living with epilepsy.
Join the EFDE in wishing a very Happy Birthday to all celebrating a February Birthday!
