Welcome to the May issue of our newsletter!  We are riding high on the energy of our recent Community Climate Leaders Conference.  It was a huge success, and we are already thinking about next year!  In addition, we have other new programs ramping up which I hope you will read about below. May is a busy month as we head into the summer season.

As always, please reach out to let us know what else we can be doing to support you or your community on the road to a healthier planet for all!

Newburyport Energy for Generations

IMG_0876.png

MassEnergize is excited to feature Energy for Generations (EFG) — a City of Newburyport initiative, led by our Program Coordinator Ariha Jain, focused on helping older adults make their homes more energy-efficient, climate-resilient, and affordable.

round%20discsu.png

The EFG program is built on a peer-to-peer support model, where trained volunteer Clean Energy Counselors (CECs)older Newburyport residents themselves — serve as trusted local guides. These volunteers are stepping up to help their neighbors take advantage of Mass Save programs and get energy efficiency upgrades

CECs are actively being trained to coach their neighbors on rooftop solar, community solar, heat pumps, and weatherization — providing free, personalized support every step of the way.
Through EFG, Newburyport residents can:

  • Access no-cost home energy assessments and home energy upgrades like insulation, air sealing, and weatherization.

  • Learn about rebates and incentives for heat pumps, solar energy, and high-efficiency appliances.

  • Connect with local CECs for coaching and guidance tailored to their clean energy goals.

Thanks to a City-sponsored incentive, households installing heat pumps can now qualify for an additional $200 incentive!

Community First Partnership

Newburyport-Massachusetts-1200x900-1271699996_1.jpg

MassEnergize is proud to participate in the Mass Save Community First Partnership (CFP), led by Energy Advocate Ariha Jain, working alongside the municipalities of Amesbury and Newburyport to help expand access to energy-saving programs for local residents and businesses.

heat_pump.jpg

The Community First Partnership is a statewide initiative that brings municipalities, community organizations, and Mass Save Sponsors together to increase participation in energy efficiency programs.

It focuses especially on historically underserved groups, including renters, low- and moderate-income households, non-English speaking residents, small businesses, and owners of 5–20 unit buildings.

Key Benefits for Residents and Businesses:

  • No-Cost Home Energy Assessments for homeowners and renters

  • Significant incentives for insulation and air sealing

  • Rebates for high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment, including heat pumps

  • Energy-saving solutions for small businesses

  • Enhanced support for moderate-income and income-eligible households

Why It Matters:
Energy efficiency upgrades help lower utility bills, improve home comfort, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions — while moving Massachusetts closer to its clean energy future. This program will help and encourage the residents and businesses in Amesbury and Newburyport to schedule a no-cost energy assessment and explore the full range of incentives available.
