Recent Mentee Milestones

Throughout April and May, we celebrated many meaningful milestones among our mentees. Achievements included earning driver’s licenses, purchasing vehicles, gaining employment, celebrating work anniversaries, filing for CDCA certifications, earning a GED, receiving an academic excellence award, and stepping into leadership roles within sober living. We also witnessed powerful personal victories, including reunification with children, increased visitation opportunities, stable housing transitions, and the chance to create lasting family memories through travel. Each milestone represents growth, perseverance, and the ripple effect of support, encouragement, and new beginnings.

A GED Celebration!

Tasha recently earned her GED through Owens Community College, and we couldn't be more proud of her accomplishment. Her hard work, determination, and commitment made this possible but so did the encouragement and support of the people around her. Her CommUNITY rallied behind her every step of the way.

Recent Testimonial

The process of mentoring further humanizes a group of individuals that a lot of people have no genuine exposure to. The surprising second side to this is that a lot of mentees are going through the same learning process. The moment I realized that my mentee didn’t know how to digest unconditional kindness, my perspective shifted. Something that I’ve built the foundation of my life on, was foreign to the human sitting in front of me. At that point, I finally started to recognize my purpose in our relationship: building trust between us so that I could show her what the world can be. My goal became helping her step out of what she previously understood and welcoming her into a new life.

The Empty Seat Beside Me

You may see our new display pop up around town - you'll see it this week at St. Mark's!

The Empty Seat Beside Me serves as a representation of someone in Hancock County who is working hard to change their life - but who is waiting for a Mentor. Someone to encourage them, give them hope, and a chance to break the cycle.
Could YOU be that person for someone?
