What the Election Means for Your Cigar Rights

The recent election results have set the stage for significant changes across the political landscape. With the return of the Trump administration, a shift in Senate control to Republicans, a potential House leadership switch, and historic recent Supreme Court rulings, the environment for regulatory policies affecting the premium cigar industry is poised for transformation. Cigar Rights of America (CRA) is prepared to actively engage with the new administration and Congress to advocate for the premium cigar industry and uphold the rights of adult cigar enthusiasts.

The transition brings a mix of opportunities and challenges, particularly with pending regulations on flavors, a forthcoming rule on nicotine levels, a pending Court appeal, and massive tax proposals on the legislative horizon. Over the past few years, the industry has faced considerable scrutiny, often subject to broad tobacco regulations that overlooked the distinctive, mature nature of premium cigars. However, given the Trump administration’s historic stance on reducing regulatory burdens, we at CRA are optimistic that this new administration could present important avenues for reform.

In Congress, CRA will work with allies and new representatives to build bipartisan support for policies that recognize and protect premium cigars across regulatory and tax threats alike. Through education and advocacy, CRA will work to inform legislators about the unique character of premium cigars and promote sensible regulations that respect the industry.

As we move forward, CRA remains committed to keeping our members informed and involved every step of the way. Thank you for your continued support and contributions toward our collective success. We will continue to work hard to secure the future of premium cigars and protect your rights as consumers.
