Valle de Oro Refuge is open!
The Visitor Center and Nature Store will be closed for the duration of the federal government shutdown.
Restrooms will remain open, from 6 am to 6 pm every day.
Refuge hours will remain the same: the gates open an hour before sunrise and close an hour after sunset.
The Friends of Valle de Oro will continue to hold some events. All events are free and open to the public.
October events that have NOT been cancelled are:
Friday, Oct. 10 - Nature Kids: 10:00 11:30 am. Children ages 7-10 with an adult are invited to explore nature with a refuge volunteer! Activities will be held in the breezeway or amphitheater.
Saturday, Oct. 11 - Find Your Wild: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. This nationwide event celebrates National Wildlife Refuges and is a fundraiser for the Friends of Valle de Oro. Come visit the refuge for a variety of activities, pick up a magnet and sticker celebrating the event!
Saturday Oct. 25 – Backyard Refuge Workshop, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, location to be determined.
