Dear MNS Families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! We are Lindsay Friedman and Stefanie Goldenberg, your PTA presidents, and we are thrilled to begin this year’s school journey alongside you. We look forward to a year filled with partnership, enhanced communication and the involvement of our entire community - for the united cause of enriching the lives of the children at Manhattan New School PS 290.
We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and kick-off the year with our goals, the 3 Cs, in mind:
COMMUNITY COMMUNICATION CONNECTION
Meet Your PTA Presidents:
Lindsay, the parent of a 3rd grader and 1st grader, is excited to begin another year as part of the MNS PTA. Over the last four years she has obtained many different leadership positions within the school community including Grade Delegate, Class Parent, member of the School Leadership Team (SLT), and Chair of SLT. Prior to having children, Lindsay fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher and working in the NYC Department of Education for ten years. While no longer working in the school system, becoming an active parent member of the community felt like a natural shift. Lindsay wholeheartedly believes that schools thrive with a strong administration, teacher, and family connection. Along with open and productive communication, she knows we can achieve the goal of making the school the best possible place for students. Lindsay is excited to take on her new role in the coming year, and is confident that together with Stefanie, they can have a positive and lasting impact on the incredible MNS community.
Stefanie is the parent of a 4th grader and a 2nd grader at MNS. She comes from a 15 year career as a classroom teacher in the NYC Department of Education and is very familiar with the workings of a school from multiple perspectives. She stands in solidarity with teachers as she knows first hand that their role in the classroom is one of the most important and taxing jobs in the world and requires the full support of the school community. Stefanie understands and has witnessed how administration, teachers and parents can work in harmony to ensure that the school is a well oiled and maintained machine that supports the community to the fullest extent. Most of all, she comes to the MNS PTA with energy, hope and confidence for the future of PS 290. Together, they aim to build connections in order to motivate each and every member to contribute, so that MNS can thrive for many years to come.
