This Pride Season the San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ+ Center holds close that we are NEVER GOING BACK. We kicked off this season with the 2nd annual flag raising in Pasadena, shared virtual space with Huntington Hospital, and even hosted the first La Puente Pride & Resource Fair on June 12th with the La Puente Queer and Trans Action Committee! This year more than ever we saw cities like Baldwin Park, El Monte, Altadena, Alhambra, and Pasadena (to name a few) showcase visible markers that speak to the growing need for 2SLGBTQIA+ representation everywhere.
From Pride crosswalks to Pride walkabouts, there was a clear need in the rise of anti-LGBT rhetoric for us to share our stories and be visible. From recognitions at Pride Proclamations, to guest presentations at local hospitals the efforts of our team are expanding and we thank each and every one of you for the journey you're on too.
Our Board of Directors wants to send everyone an energy of healing today and always. Many people are concerned about future ramifications and what other landmark decisions which could be reversed, and with the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the issue of abortion rights, trans healthcare, and access to marriage (to name a few) are top of mind for folks like us.
Today's newsletter is a call for healing, resilience, anger and rest.
With gratitude,
The San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ+ Center Board of Directors

30 years ago, being openly gay in Long Beach meant facing constant harassment and unfair treatment from members of the local community, businesses, the policy, and Long Beach City Officials.
This year will set a new standard for Long Beach Pride and become the gold standard for Pride festivals everywhere.
In the last decade, live events have entered a new sphere of rich, dynamic content. In order to tell our story in a way that honors the struggle, celebrates the community, and captivates new generations–while showcasing our history–we need to engage multiple audiences in multiple ways. So this year, in addition to the stages and musical entertainment, we’ll be creating multiple activations and attractions that will bring guests and sponsors together in an environment that entertains, educates and inspires.
Date: Saturday, July 9th & 10th

Tales of the Transcestors!
This month we want to highlight Board President Camila Camaleón for her run in Tales of the Transcestors, hosted by Celebration Theatre. Celebration Theatre offered a cast of six trans and non-binary actors the platform to bring their trans* heroes to life on stage for the 2022 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
History—for transgender people—has been largely erased or unrecorded. Though we have existed throughout all of the time, through every land. We know this because we can feel…them—our transcestors. We can feel their joy, their pain, and their power in the deepest part of ourselves. A knowing, without knowing, that we are only here because of them. This multi-genre experience inclusive of music, poetry, and vignettes was a powerful show, and we send a huge Congratulations on being a Hollywood Fringe 2022 Best of Broadwater Winner!
The San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ+ Center showcases the collective power of celebration – while centering joy, playfulness, and gender expansive folks Board President Camila Camaleón talks about the current efforts occurring by San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ+ Center.
