President’s Announcement
Dear Friends,
I am pleased to announce that Janalee Morris has been appointed as Humanist Canada’s next Executive Director.
Following a thoughtful interview process, the Board affirmed that Janalee brings a rare combination of senior operational leadership, governance experience, financial oversight, and a longstanding commitment to humanist principles.
She has led complex service portfolios within post-secondary institutions and brings a strong systems-improvement mindset, including Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt) certification and extensive experience redesigning policies and workflows.
For a national organization such as ours, Janalee is exceptionally well-positioned to guide Humanist Canada into its next chapter with clarity and steadiness.
Janalee also served for ten years on the board of Rocky Mountain Atheists, including six years as President. She understands firsthand what it means to support committees, empower volunteers, and sustain engaged communities.
Humanist Canada stands at an exciting moment, with renewed energy across our Chapters, our Officiant and Chaplaincy Programs, growing national partnerships, and our international engagement as co-hosts of the upcoming World Humanist Congress.

J'ai le plaisir de vous annoncer que Janalee Morris a été nommée Directrice générale de Humanist Canada.
À l'issue d'un processus de sélection rigoureux, le bureau a conclu que Janalee apportait une combinaison rare de compétences en matière de direction opérationnelle, d'expérience en gouvernance, de supervision financière et d'engagement de longue date envers les principes humanistes.
Elle a dirigé des portefeuilles de services complexes au sein d'établissements d'enseignement supérieur et apporte une forte mentalité d'amélioration des processus, notamment grâce à sa certification Lean Six Sigma (ceinture verte) et à sa vaste expérience dans la refonte des politiques et des flux de travail.
Pour une organisation nationale telle que la nôtre, Janalee est exceptionnellement bien placée pour guider Humanist Canada vers son nouveau chapitre avec clarté et constance.
Janalee a également siégé pendant dix ans au Conseil d'administration de Rocky Mountain Atheists, dont six ans en tant que Présidente.
Elle comprend parfaitement comment soutenir des comités, responsabiliser des bénévoles et maintenir des communautés engagées.

Newfoundaland Humanist Gathering

We are pleased to invite you to this month's Humanist NL meetup.
We will be gathering for a coffee social and for meaningful Humanist conversations.
This time Jim Davies volunteered to host; feel free to bring a snack or something if you'd like to contribute.
We're planning on hosting a skill-share evening. If you play an instrument, have a sports skill, want to show pictures of a recent trip, read a poem, or have a favorite dish you'd like to share, we look forward to seeing you shine.
Please bring $10-20 (contribute what you can) per person to help offset the cost of food if you're not bringing a food item to share.
Feel free to bring a friend; we're looking forward to sharing company and conversation with other humanists.

Des membres de Humanist Canada et l'Association humaniste du Québec résidant à Gatineau ont formé un groupe de discussions conviviales, ouvertes et stimulantes. Ces rencontres ont lieu en personne un dimanche sur deux, 1600 à 1730 hrs, et constituent une belle occasion d’échanger sur nos valeurs, nos projets et notre engagement humaniste dans la région.

Join humanists from across Canada and the world in Ottawa for Humanist Connections, a full day of engaging conversations, shared experiences, creativity, and celebration.
With a variety of engaging activities to choose from in both English and French – from opportunities to meet, to intellectual exchanges, to artistic expression – there will be something for every humanist. Connect with fellow humanists, share stories, explore ideas and celebrate our global humanist community.
The full schedule will be sent to registered participants in July.
Registration deadline is 7 July 2026. Please note that tickets are limited and may sell out before this date.
For those requiring accommodation, information about a discounted hotel room block at Lord Elgin will be provided upon registration.
