Pick Up Pennsylvania Launches 2026 Cleanup Effort in Honor of America’s 250th Anniversary
In 2024, Keep America Beautiful launched the Greatest American Cleanup in honor of America’s 250th birthday—an initiative to clean up and green up communities nationwide by July 4, 2026. As part of this national movement, Pick Up Pennsylvania invites residents across the Commonwealth to help showcase Pennsylvania at its best by registering for Pick Up Pennsylvania.
Registration is open! Events scheduled from March 1 through May 31 receive free trash bags, gloves, and safety vests provided by support from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and PennDOT, as supplies last. Events can include litter and illegal dump cleanups, community greening and beautification, special collections and anti-litter education events. Events must be registered to receive free cleanup supplies.
Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association are sponsoringtrash disposal, free of charge or at a reduced ratein the month of April at participating landfills. Events must be registered to access free or reduced cost disposal.

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Partners with The GIANT Company - Awards 37 Community Improvement Grants
Healing the Planet 2025 was a competitive grant program in support of native tree planting projects across The GIANT Company’s operating area within Pennsylvania. The GIANT Company and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful awarded 37 Healing the Planet grants ranging from $700 up to $4,000, totaling $119,022.
Since 2021, the Healing the Planet grant program has awarded over $1.3 million to 178 grant recipients, supporting projects that connect communities with green spaces, protect and improve local waterways and water resources, prevent, reduce, and recover food waste, and support native tree planting and habitat restoration.
