"What can you do to build relationships, build trust, build partnerships, and make a difference?" - Paula Cole Jones,Justice on Earth: People of Faith working at the Intersections of Race, Class, and the Environment
Dear Friends,
We have completed the 2022 Spring for Change season, from the UU at the United Nation Spring Seminar through the advocacy of Florida UUs to stop polluting burns of sugarcane, to the most recent celebration of Biodiversity Sunday, we are grateful for the manifold ways you have engaged in local and national collaboration for climate justice.
Looking for ways to practice sacred activism year round? Is your congregation hoping to build a long term, cultural foundation for climate justice?
Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth is recruiting congregations to join Survive and Thrive, a cohort of congregations who will pilot a new draft curriculum, “May You Survive and Thrive.”
This multi-generational curriculum is designed to cultivate ecological awareness, and offer creative, spiritually nourishing experiences for families, youth groups, climate/environmental teams, and worship teams.
The “May You Survive and Thrive” curriculum culminates with an Endangered Species Art Project, which congregations can use in their own worship and programs and also bring to local eco-activism events and the Procession of the Species at future General Assemblies! Plan for next year, and sign up today!
We are in a tempest- and we are grateful to journey with you for justice.
With care,

From the 2019 Procession of Species in Spokane, WA
UU Ministry for Earth is excited to collaborate with UU Animal Ministry, Public Witness, Synergy Worship Team, First Unitarian Portland, Sunrise and Youth v. ODOT, East County Rising, and other UU and local communities to continue the tradition of Procession of Species at GA this year on Friday June 24th following the Synergy Bridging worship service. You're invited in body or spirit!
The theme this year, “Migration is Beautiful,” highlights the essential movement and change inherent in our Web of Life, and the intersectionality of climate justice for indigenous communities, immigrants, endangered and threatened species, and land and water.
Sign up below to join the flow and move in community together at the Procession of Species. Visit our GA webpage to learn about a featured species art project and climate justice story from our friends at Unitarian Universalist Justice Arizona, as well as ways for you and your congregation to participate in-person or virtually.
We invite congregations to sign up to bring or share any local species-related art to this special event. See this toolkit below for more information!
UUs for Social Justice, UU Ministry for Earth and UUs for a Just Economic Community are jointly advocating to increase financial resources available to countries most impacted by climate chaos, supporting the GreenClimateFund (GCF). Despite the efforts of advocates last Spring, the U.S. FY 2022 budget provided no money for the GreenClimateFund (GCF).
As the US Congress focuses on the FY 2023 budget, Unitarian Universalists have an opportunity to demand that Congress redress its past failure to support the GreenClimateFund and share the power of our voice with those who have less recourse to influence decision-makers.
Your support matters. Even if you have previously written to US Congressional representatives on the Green Climate Fund, please do so again! Greater public advocacy translates to greater concern among staffers and representatives.
